A man playing with his brother's dog found out to his pain and displeasure that big surprises can come in small packages when the Jack Russell terrier went for his crotch, almost severing his penis in a frenzied attack.

Daniel Dietmaier from Düren in western Germany was rushed to the local hospital where surgeon's battled to save the tattered organ. Luckily for Dietmaier -- or as lucky as any man can be after he has had his manhood chewed on by a manic hound -- the terrier failed to bite the appendage off and the doctors were able to save his penis.

After being released from hospital, Dietmaier was gracious enough not to insist on the dog's destruction but instead launched legal action against his brother's girlfriend who, he maintains, ordered the Jack Russell to go for the family jewels and then rolled around the floor in fits of hysterical laughter as he tried to beat the dog away while screaming in agony.

The incident is likely to be a bone of contention in the Dietmaier family for some time to come

Lately in General Discussion we have seen a rash of threads which begin with some quoted news story and then a line or two basically saying "this was interesting" or "that sucks," much like this thread. This is General Discussion, not "Post the Day's News"...let's get some sort of discussion going here so that I don't have to close the thread. Personally though, I'm not sure if there's any real discussion to be had about this one.

(Nothing against you specifically, Astrocloud, this just happens to be the thread that broke the camel's back for me on this issue)

If the woman sent the dog after the guy, I hope the proverbial book gets thrown at her. Laughing instead of helping when the guy is flipping out in agony? Give her the chair.

If a dog as small as a Jack Russell goes to bite you, I wouldn't think it could do TOO much damage through clothes. Unless the guy was naked or in a pair of pajama pants or something. :o

Whats the deal with this? i just thought all men had a crotch defense reflex. i know the second anything gets near my crotch that dosnt belong there my hands are in the way to block it and im jumping out of the way at the same time. a dog that small must of had to get a running start to reach it so its not like it just went from a harmless butt sniff to castration.
