The Geek Subgenre Social Acceptability Scale

via The Socially Acceptable Geek Subgenre Scale - Geek scale - Gizmodo

if you'd like, go ahead and post which one(s) you'd consider to be seen as after you read the article. I'll be honest, other than being or thinking about becoming a furry, over the past three years I've dabbled in each subgenre portrayed. I'm too lazy and noncommital to ever be obsessed enough to stay in one category for very long.

Enjoy.

If I had to pick one out, it would be Music Geek.

I'm glad I can look down on Furries.

Wow. um... I'm definitely a geek, and I'm nowhere in that spectrum. I must be an utterly socially unacceptable-type. I'd better keep my obsession with Star Wars under wraps.

This dude exists in real life. I saw him interviewed on a national news program about Avatar. Complete with red hair, neck beard and the Hawaiian shirt!

I don't want to be him.

His name is Harry Knowles. He runs Ain't It Cool News: The best in movie, TV, DVD, and comic book news.

Of the options given, I'm a Musician Music Geek with a significant presence of Gadget Nerd and DIY Computer Geek. I have a touch of Gamer Geek and Art House Movie Geek as well.

speaking of looking down on Winnie the Grand Poohbah, I also know of this other comparative, a chart as opposed to a scale, for measuring geek clique culture.

For reference purposes only.
