Twitter Whore
I find this pretty f'n accurate
Yep.
That's our culture. |
I made it to 0:54 and couldn't hack it anymore...

The first time I heard about Twitter was about a year and a half ago here on TFP; someone mentioned they had an account, so I looked up its purpose for existence (FAQ) and was immediately turned off by its inherent nature of narcissism.
In the last half-year though, it has become increasingly more difficult to avoid the phenomenom of Twitter as it is now the fifth story each and every time. |

I use twitter to update my facebook status feed because the only facebook client for android sucks at the moment. I also use it as an easy way to share pics, since twit pic is build into twideroid. *shrug* |

Examples of 'more than status updates' useage: What are people saying about "The Hangover"? Search for it! Twitter: What are you doing? Is Hulu working on Boxee? hulu on boxee status (ishuluonboxee) on Twitter What's happening on Mars? MarsPhoenix (MarsPhoenix) on Twitter Want to be sure you'll here about The Rapture/cthulu's rising/assasinations, even if you're not near a TV? CNN Breaking News (cnnbrk) on Twitter A lot of websites treat them like an RSS feed as well, letting you know when favorite site X has an update/new comic/new song posted. Edit: Additionally, it's unsymmetrical. I really like Adam Savage and Penn Jilette, but doubt either of them would accept a friend request from me on Facebook...however, I can subscribe to their twitter feeds and get to hear their little bits of daily wit without them having to acknowledge me in any way :) http://twitter.com/donttrythis http://twitter.com/pennjillette |
Thanks for in-detailed explanation of the matter of "Twitter-nomics", twistedmosaic.
I knew somewhat of the success and stories produced by the simplicity of using short blurps of text and a link to inform readers. It's also a tool used by celebrities and their fans alike to seem better at ease with other in terms of "relayed-relations". I just cannot fathom wanting to use it. It may be the media-hype, it may be as I heard remarked this week if the service was never regarded as "Twitter", but something more professional/masculine sounding, the site would be as popular as google. But as it stands now, I see it as yet another diversionary site that I am unwilling to embrace because I have no need to be constantly updated about other people's lives and doings. So goes my day when this occurs for failure to adhere. http://th05.deviantart.net/fs39/300W...ennamation.jpg |
I found out about twitter last week. I then curled into a ball and wanted to die. Never been to it though, hearing about it was bad enough.
I made through the video only cause she's hot. Annoying otherwise and I don't like Twitter.
definitely a nice rack, but annoying as hell...just like Twitter.
It's not that bad but I did have to turn the sound off.
She's annoying but I don't find Twitter nearly as bad as all that... Twitter is like anything on the Internet. Some stuff is cool and useful. Some is trite and useless. You just need to be able to wade through the garbage to find the stuff of interest.
Interesting that twitter has been used as a way for Iranians to communicate about the election - so much so that the maintenance that was planned to take the site down was postponed in the interests of democracy this week.
I don't understand this shit at all. Twitter users scare me. Why do you need to fill people in on every mundane detail of your life? What kind of creep "follows" people and is actually interested in knowing every little thing that happens to someone. But, I feel the same way about cell phones. I think it cheapens real life relationships.
I was on, am on, twitter, but.. I never update it manually, it just kinda sucks my updates from brightkite.com
BK is actually somewhat useful in location based networking, cuz you can meet up with people in your area and it has photo support/ipod/iphone compatible app to basically make integration a snap as well. Can't say it's too popular where I live now but it's definately fun to check out if you live in a metro area. |
Heh. I have 2 accounts on twitter, but I don't tweet. I use them as testing pages for backgrounds I design, and to show people what I could make their BG like. I've gotten freelance graphic design opportunities from it, because people want a well designed twitter page, so it's a good way to get money for me when I feel like working on pictures.
