I assume they killed it while performing a landing. They may have had a field landing strip, and the cow was there. Not sure why you wouldn't buzz it to try and scare it away...

Why didn't that wreck the plane?

How do you know it didn't? Or maybe a better question is how do you define "wreck?" My guess is there's serious damage to the left wing and they didn't fly it away. Doesn't look like it did the cow any good either.

Good point, I was expecting to see the plane spin at impact. I'm sure the wing is very damaged.

I used to fly in and out of Astoria, Or all the time. They have a resident elk heard. Somewhere I have a picture like that with a smoking Canadian Air Force Gulf Stream jet and a dead elk. I'll try to find the pix.

Maybe the cow just got a huge fright and backflipped, and they didn't actually hit it.
