I've heard bad things about downtown Detroit insofar as it's a hollow shell of an urban area.

I love this stuff(surprise). If I had a wish, it'd be to travel all over the world photographing abandoned places.

phillip glass did a score to Koyaanisqatsi, in the film were lots of soviet abandoned blocks. I never knew the story behind why they were abandoned but its odd to see areas where life once was and isnt.

I love The Pod City of San Zhi in Taiwan. Looks like something out of the 70's version of the future.
And the The Ryugyong Hotel in Pyongyang in North Korea is just surreal. |

One around here that I've driven thru a couple times is Centralia, PA ...the place that was abandoned/evacuated due to an underground mine fire buring for the last few decades. |
