Crystal Head Vodka

The best stuff evah!

Dan, like a fine wine, but not a quadruple filtered vodka, you just get better with age.

Wow. That's detailed. How much for a bottle though, eh?

"Hi! Let me throw around big words in order to seem intelligent!"

That's the impression I got....

LoganSnake 10-02-2008 05:48 AM

I thought the presentation was quite interesting. I ended up watching the whole thing.

I think I'll buy one of these just to have it. I don't drink vodka.

Glory's Sun 10-02-2008 06:42 AM

I just have a hard time believing that it's better than Chopin or Ketal One.

tisonlyi 10-02-2008 07:29 AM

This whole thing is a joke, even if unintentional.

In fact, it'd be much funnier if everyone involved in this was deadly serious about it.

Crystal skulls, quadruple filtered vodka, passed over crystals/diamonds, with an enormous, pompous, pretentious sales pitch and description of the process.

"What to put into these skulls which we have been painstakingly creating over 2 years, why... Vodka! Naturally!"

Fantastic. A joke that keeps on selling. :)

KirStang 10-02-2008 01:43 PM

I won't lie, I would like to try some of it out, but the whole thing does seem pretty farcical.

For example, he spends the greater proportion of the presentation attempting to convince you to associate the vodka with the 'magical powers' of the crystal skull. It's a smart marketing trick, but I have my doubts.

"Carbon filtered Vodka"
So if I put Vodka thru my Brita filter 4 times, is it quadruple distilled? Maybe I should throw mom's diamond in there just to make it comparable? (Filtered through diamonds! I seriously doubt the filtering prowress of diamonds....)

"Cheers"
It's kinda funny watching in the end, because it almost seems like Dan is attempting to fight off the urge to gag after drinking the vodka.

Eitherway, it was entertaining :)

Actually almost all vodka's are carbon filtered (the more times the better; I've even seen 'filtered 5 times')

And the Brita filter trick actually does work and has been taste-test proved by Cooks Illustrated. It removes impurities and gives it a more neutral taste. While it wont turn a plastic handle of Ruble into Grey Goose, it'll certainly become more drinkable.

Not going to lie, I'd buy it just to have the bottle.

troit 10-03-2008 04:15 PM

So has anyone actually gone out and bought a bottle or is the whole thing a farce?

Have you tried this? It is fantastic. When I was in college I used to always by vodka by the jug and charcoal filter it using brita filters - it's great until you forget which brita pitcher is for water...

KirStang 10-04-2008 08:19 AM

Yea! I mean I've done the brita filter trick before with beer, and it tasted much crisper--but because a company puts their own vodka through a brita filter, however many times, doesn't really add to it's value. Know what I mean?

Amaras 10-04-2008 03:13 PM

After two or three of these, can anyone here tell the difference?
