This reminds me of the Book The Light of Other Days by Arthur C. Clarke and Stephen Baxter:

In it, a technology is created that allows you to view anywhere in space, effectively eliminating privacy completely. Those who reject the notion of living openly congregate in pitch black places and communicate silently through physical contact and a hand to hand sign language.
