Actually, here in the USA, we ARE required to shoot the real food (only the food you're selling) if taking a photo. But there are soooo many ways to make that food look better. Stuffing ravioli with mashed potatos to make them fuller, going through bags and bags of chips to pick the perfect few, putting those perfect few cereal flakes in a spoon of elmers glue instead of milk... it's crazy.
