My knee jerk reaction was that this guy deserves the death penalty but then I realized sending him to jail would first allow him to have the same experience and then die...

Summarization: A baby was sexually assaulted by her caretaker and mother's boyfriend, causing the baby to cry uncontrollably. Said boyfriend/caretaker, Scott Smith, called the police and reported that the little girl was choking on a crayon. There was no evidence of choking when police arrived, and the police took her to the hospital. There, they found blood in the baby's diaper. They later found a blood soaked towel, bloody baby wipes, and (UGH) used condoms. He's been charged with 5 felonies including rape of a child causing serious bodily injury, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, and endangering the welfare of children.

He's also guilty of making me physically sick to my stomach.

Clearly the man is mentally ill. It's a terrible tragedy that he wasn't diagnosed and institutionalized before this depraved act.

So we have families of social workers (housing coordinators for mentally handicapped) beating (torturing) developmentally challenged pregnant girls and 5-month-old babies getting raped.

The really sad thing is that it happens more than people know. My mom is a school teacher and a few years back she had a poor little girl in her class that was disturbed. The girl was in foster care because her mother and her mothers girlfriend had sexually assaulted her as baby to young child. A good foster family had taken her in and was trying to take care of her the best they could but they had a baby in there care as well and the girl started exhibiting behavior that made them nervous to keep her in their care. My mom also said the little girl, who was only 8 at the time, would say lewd comments to the other children, touch herself in inappropriate manners in class, and was not allowed to go to the restroom by herself.
I recently asked my mom if she knew what had happened to this poor little girl (she tries to keep track of her kids, especially those that have this much of an impact) and she tells me shockingly the mother was released from prison the year after the girl left her class and the courts gave the little girl back to her mother! :mad:
As a victim of childhood assault, my heart goes out to these kids and hopes that one day they may have the opportunity to lead normal lives. My mom (who is actually my step-mom) has given me this opportunity and for that I will forever be greatfull, and this gives me hope to know that there are wonderful people out there mixed in with all the psychos.

i´m definitely one of those people who reads something and dettaches themselves from it no matter how sickening (although i have a dislike of horror or other violent films.) i guess i´m just resigned to there being more evil in this world than i can change but that won´t stop me from doing my little bit anyway.
