Kinda strange, but whatever floats their boat.

Human shadow sculptures of (mostly) mundane objects? These aren't even shadow plays, which would be interesting if they were done with nothing but the bodies....
Aren't there better uses for talented dancers? Well, at least they're making a living. Maybe. But it is interesting to see how they do it. A lot of thought and trial-and-error goes into it, I'm sure. And is it just me, or is Oprah trying too hard to look and sound impressed. Is she normally like that? |
My close friend's fiancee is a pilobonaught - I'm actually the best man at their wedding next month.
The shadow thing is not really what they do all the time, but it gets a lot of attention after their performance at the Oscars. Incidentally, that wasn't entirely the "main" company - it was a couple of the regulars and some people they picked up for that specific performance. The company does a LOT of touring. Baraka, the company does well. It's not a LOT of money, but with a decent salary, health insurance, and lots of steady work, it's much better than most small dance companies do. Your comment notwthstanding, Pilobolus is a coveted gig, and demands absurd amounts of strength of it's dancers. There's no better use for talented dancers than dancing, which is what this company does. |
I'd have to see more of their work before I bag on it, but my initial impression is "people pay for this?"
