I could have sworn that I've seen a similar story linked to on these forums, though I thought it was a work of fiction at the time. I guess it really can happen.

the story you're talking about is "gut" by the dude who made Fight club. ( i think)

and yes, this is pretty weird. i didn't know the pumps in a pool were that strong!
