Best Free DVD Burning Software

Hi,

My DVD burner should be arriving from Newegg soon, and I just wanted to be prepared for it when it comes. It's OEM so there will be no included software. I will be burning a lot of DVDs with data, I won't do much copying. So what I'm interested in is an easy to use DVD burning software that will just let me drag and drop, then burn what I want. It would also be nice if it was a free non-trial version of software. Any recommendations or advice would be much appreciated.

unless you're going to do the "buy nothing day" thing. in that case, it'll cost you more.

i can't vouch for freeware, but nero is very good.

If you do go the Nero route, just find the shortcut for Nero Burning Rom and use that. The SmartStart (i'm assuming 7 is much like 6) was the worst fricking thing I've seen in software design in years.

cdburner xp pro 3 will burn dvd's, but dvd decrypter is good to have if you are going to be working with dvd movies. nero isn't bad either. if you are just writting data, windows will do a decent job on its own. depending on where you got your drive from, you may get a version of nero oem which would be your best bet to start.

DVD Shrink is great. Rips, compresses, and encodes and it's 100% free.

he's looking for more of a data DVD burning than an actual 'dvd' burning/copying/shrinking program.

and back on topic, I don't have anything to recommend.
I've been using nero for the majority of my burning for years.

I user Nero 6 here with all the plugins and such. I tried a copy of the Trial of 7 and it sucked, after much browsing and looking around I heard of many problems with 7 baing bloatware, some people who were doing audio CD's having problems withtracks skipping and other such crazy stuff. So my suggestion is Nero 6
