Image posting question - Tilted Forum Project Discussion Community

(I couldnt figure out if this fit in this forum or not, so please move if it doesnt)

So....I run a wedding message board....and lots of the girls have accounts at shutterfly to put their pictures of ideas and whatnot. It seems that they cant link from shutterfly (Im guessing because there is no picture extention jpg, gif etc on the url for the pic itself) Photobucket and places like that work fine (they DO provide an extention)

my question here...has anyone who might use shutterfly figured out how to post their image on a message board successfully? I've tried using the html code img src and of course the IMG tags.

I've searched and searched for help on this but to no avail so I thought I'd ask somebody here.

Yeah, it's called hotlinking... meaning you view the image (or whatever) from another site. It uses up their bandwidth without people seeing their site, which is costly for them. Many sites don't allow it. They're going to have to use another site.

you know I looked and I couldnt find that Redlemon...dang it lol

Yes I know all about hotlinking mooseman, its expressely forbidden on any of my forums and a bannable offense. BUT some of the photo sites are set up so that people CAN do that....I just couldnt find anything on shutterfly that said whether it was or not...I must be blind.

I know you are a Firefox user; take advantage of Find As You Type. I searched the help page for "link", and found it after a couple of hits.

Try photobucket instead; they provide all the codes, and it's free to use.

yeah thats whats what I've been telling them....but I get whining about the fact that "they already have their pics on shutterfly" hell I even provided them a way to upload them to my own server and that seems to be a cause to bitch too

they will get over it....Im just mad that Redlemon had to show me what I should have been able to find by myself.

it turns out...the board we all used to be on that the girls all used shutterfly had an agreement with them and some special bb code they could use to link the pics....thats why it was driving me nuts cause I KNEW they'd used it
