creating bootable cd images?

What software can I use to create a set of restore CDs for a computer I own. I have things setup exactly the way I intend on keeping them.

I want these CDs to be DOS bootable and run just like ones you get from some PC manufacturers.

edit: On a Windows PC...

sony has a system recover software that comes with vaio pcs that allows you to do this but i dont know if its available outside them.

other than that norton ghost is your best bet, since its difficult to make a cd that reinstalls software, imaging the drive is much better

i also really like this software, http://www.drivesnapshot.de/en/down.htm but you'll have to build a bootable cd with it on it and the images etc, yourself. this isn't really all that hard to do

I second the Norton Ghost, or some other such imaging software. It works pretty well, and if you rebuild your machine often, makes life much easier.

We use Norton Ghost at work, trust me, it's a god-send.

Would Norton Ghost work with Windows XP, if the resulting backup is being used to restore the system on which it was created, activation and all?

its a binary image, so if you restore it to the same machine or a machine with only a few changes, it'll work fine, won't even know it moved.

If you restore it to a completely different machine you'll need to reinstall drivers, possible reactive and in some cases figure out a way to boot it, as if the hard drive controller is not the same, it wont be able to use the old drivers to boot.
