that's great for ppl who have the xbox.
I still find it retarded that you have to pay to play online. 500$ for the xbox. 50 to 70$ for the game. 30 to 40$ a month on internet. 300$ for the TV to see the games. and now you still have to pay? damn!

The point of paying on Live is you're supposed to get superior service and for the most part you do compared to any other console games played online. PC gaming is another story completely.

That is a pretty amazing deal, if you buy it now and you still have some left of a a previous year's worth, does it just add on?
Is there no reason not to buy it right now?

not really no. when i buy a movie, i want a full experience. IF the expansion is a standalone, then i would consider it but as long as it's as complete as the full game. I can't stand those 30$ expansions that only add about 5new levels and nothing more.
and additional downloadable content is not something I want. the problem is that if i format or get a virus and have to recover the drive, then i lose the files I got. plus, most of the time, i can get some better or at least equal quality levels or content created for free by the community. if a game restricts this, then i don't even want to pay for more. for example, HL2 or UT have some awesome mods created by the community and that makes me want to play more and eventually get the new versions of the game for sure!

Mexican, I don't really understand your argument. So you like HL2 becuase the community can make mods, but you won't pay for expansions that aren't stand-alone, like TF2 or Portal? Why not?
If you get a virus and lose donaloadable content... well, I have two points on that. First is back up your data. Second is that with most downloadable content systems, you can redownload content you've previously purchased. You don't lose out on anything. I happily pay $50 for XBL. I'd probably pay more than that. You don't have to buy XBL for most games. You pay for XBL for multiplayer online with probably the best matchmaking service in the gaming world. I prefer to play MP on XBL rather than PC+internet most of the time becuase on XBL you just can't cheat. Everyone is on equal footing hardwarewise as well.

Seriously though $50 a year is nothing when you consider the amount of things you can do on XBL. Being able to chat with friends while you're playing different games is awesome. Also the XBL Arcade has some of the best classics released. Yes you have to pay for movies and arcade games, but they're really not that expensive. XBL is far superior to PSN and the Wii's online community is pretty non-existent. Though once Home is released for PS3 it may be a close second to XBL, but I don't think it will surpass it.

Yeah, XBLA not only has a great collection of classic games, but some absolutely awesome remakes and new third-party casual and puzzle games. Worth every penny!

Hey, I know I'm way late on this one, but just wanted to chime in. You can get XBL for $25.00 @ 13 months any day of the week on eBay. The only catch I've found, so far, is you have to change your GT each time. I'm still paying $50/year to keep my name from XBL launch.
