Natural but interesting effects obtained in photographs

I've never posted here before, so here goes. A while back I was experimenting with my camera and made these photos. They relate pretty closely (IMO) to my art work (you can see some of it in Tilted Artwork if you're interested). Maybe one of the mods would prefer this to go in that forum? Feel free to move this of course.

The shots are blurred because I moved the camera, and it is an effect that interests me because it creates parallel realities to what is actually directly there. In terms of art work I like it because it's something attractive but not something you can "capture" as it were, blurriness gives a sense of warmth but you can't exactly describe what it is, "name it" so to speak. I also like to show some of what is really present but also then obscure/hide some of it, adding to an attractive confusion of sorts. There is also a fragility and delicateness that comes from the blurring and movement.

I also found that by moving my digital camera in specific ways and with specific lighting I could get quite clear double or triple images. These shots are all taken by myself of myself, with natural or ambient lighting and with no gimmicks or posterior "photoshopping".

I just wanted to post some of these to get feedback on what you think of these "effects" and if anyone has other curious shots of their own to share, I'd love to see and comment on them also. Thanks!

To be our soul and gesture it abroad,
Our hearts are incommunicable still.
In what we show ourselves we are ignored.
The abyss from soul to soul cannot be bridged
By any skill of thought or trick of seeming.
Unto our very selves we are abridged
When we would utter to our thought our being.
We are our dreams of ourselves, souls by gleams,
And each to each other dreams of others' dreams.

one trick i like to do is ghost images. You just lock the camera down on a tripod, open the shutter for one minute, and for 20-30 seconds have someone stand in the picture. Because for the other 30 seconds the background was exposed, you'll be able to see right through the person. Vary the times to get more solid or vaporous ghosts.

You can even achieve the ghostbusters effect (normal lookin' head on a vaporous body) by taking a spotlight/flashlight and shining it on the face for a bit - it'll expose that area more than the rest.

I like the first, it's very water color-y.
I'll have to try this.

I like the first and second the best. The last sort of hurts my eyes. I agree with you, I like those types of effects. I wonder what you could do with two blurryish pics superimposed over each other? With maybe the focal point at the clearest.

Way cool! Once I get a camera that can do that I'll have to try it.
