Transferring mp3 from one player to another
I have the samsung yepp 700...just bought the creative Muvo. Now, I did not save the music on my desktop, so I want to transfer from my Yepp to my Muvo.
Now, the Line in jack from Muvo does not fit into the Yepp. Is there a way to copy everything on my Yepp back onto my computer ? I cannot seem to find an option to do this. I am using Yepp audio manager. Please help! I was told by samsung that this option does not exist, but maybe some techies know a way to do it....? Last edited by danny_boy; 04-26-2005 at 06:00 PM.. |

when you plug the Yepp into your USB port, does the computer recognize it as a removable drive? If so, an additional drive icon should appear in "My Computer." Double-clicking this icon will allow you to navigate the directories of the MP3 player. Just find where your songs are stored and drag them into a temporary local folder.

I used to have a Yepp-EM32 way back in the day (it was a parallel interface...pre-USB). Back then the Yepp would only let you copy one way; you could only delete files from the MP3 player, not copy them back onto the computer.
I have no clue if the Yepp 700 is the same way. Some people with way too much time on their hands managed to write an open-source implementation of the Yepp protocol for linux (called "nope") that I believe let you copy stuff back off your Yepp. This information may be completely useless to you...but then again maybe not ;-) |

This is going to sound asinine, but if you are desparate and have a lot of time...
1. Hook up MP3 player headphone jack to computer Microphone port 2. Open up windows sound recorder (Programs->Start->Accesories) 3. Press record on the sound record, and play 1 song on the mp3 player 4. Save the WAV file. 5. Download a program to convert WAV to MP3. Now the sound quality will degrade a bit, but I was actually suprised by how little when I did it. I did it as a proof of point to a friend who was going on and on about DRM. |
