Is there any way to increase the CPU fan speed on an Intel D865GBF running a P4 2.8C???

If you hook it up to an external power supply and pump more than 12 volts into it.

You can buy a fan speed controller for it, but that would require re-wiring, and there's a good chance your motherboard wouldn't recognize the RPM speed anymore. I'd just go buy a new CPU fan that has a fan speed controller built in, like a Thermaltake Volcano 7 or Thermaltake Volcano 9. You can set it to auto-speed or control the speed yourself. They go pretty damn high; 5,000-6,000 RPMs I believe.

If you take off the blades the fan will become unbalanced. So the fan will probably make a lot more noise, work less efficiently, and wear out much quicker.

Just buy a new fan. A bigger fan at the same speed can be just as good as increasing the speed on what you've got.

I was being a smart ass.... or trying to be.... they said spin faster not cool better. I was suggesting removeing all blades, if you remove them all it wouldn't be off balanced, just wouldn't move any air....

you could get away with upping th voltage to a point but then you would have to have a pot and use the +12 -12 volts on the power supply to get the needed voltage with out useing an external source.....

the fan speed contoler like in the volcano 7 would only reduce the voltage thus slowing the fan.....

Just buy a new fan and do it the right way
