My wife is from the UK.. she hates both of those words, although she does admit that cunt is probably the worst.

the very nature of this thread demands that it be jacked. sort of like a mutiny when you know the captain has gone mad.

I suppose that it depends who you are with and your emotional stability.

My girl used to get angry when I referred to it as her "pussy". I think that she may have taken it that I was objectifying her as a person as an object - a sex object. In that context I understand that she was offended. I am not sure that I agree that her objection was rational but I understand that to her it was was problematic so I tried to compensate and be sensitive to her feelings.

Instead of saying things like "Lay back and let me eat your pussy" I might say something like "It's time for me to pet the kitty". To use the term vagina seem a little clinical. Cunt seems too extreme.

Having said that, this all seems to be situational. Sometimes she likes to talk dirty. It is like at certain levels of hornyness, certain things are OK and other things are taboo. At other times the taboo things are actually desired. As an example, at sometimes she wants to "have sex" or "make love". Other times she wants me to "fuck her".

I think that it comes down to love and trust and respect. And being sensitive.

As for using "vagina" as slang—it makes far more sense to use "pussy" instead. It's simply miscontruing the word and has led to the unfortunate and embarrassing misunderstandings of some younger people in the US. This thread has shown me that there really are several people that don't realize what the term "vagina" actually means because they hear it when really the speaker is referring to the entire female genitalia (pussy). I'm not sure I'd call it just slang... it really seems to be misunderstood. How would you feel if people started using the word "penis" to refer to the entire "package?" And I really hope people don't get that wrong, either...

Wow, how have I missed this thread since it was posted? CN, let me begin this by stating the following:

a) I detest stupidity. People misusing words generally drives me insane.
b) I believe most people are stupid.

So, with that out of the way, I still have to say, "Are you friggin serious???"

The word pussy is generally accepted as meaning the whole of the female exterior and immediate interior areas. Basically the fun bits. Vagina, while a medical term with a specific meaning, is also a word in the English language. English being a living language (as opposed to dead, not generally spoken by a native people any longer) it is subject to relatively constant change, both in use and actual wordcount. I don't believe that anyone here has so far proven your statement correct. It would appear that everyone AGREES that vagina = birth canal. However, it would also seem as if you are the absolutely only person here who believes it matters whether or not people use the word to mean the whole package.

Now for an example. My wife seems to like the word penis as opposed to other "slang" terms for my junk. I find it amusing and somewhat endearing and oddly not clinical. If TotalMILF says, "Mmmmm, I'm going to suck your penis" I can also fully expect to have my balls in the mix as well. Did she just use the word "penis" to include the whole "package"? Not specifically... it just turned out that way. On the same note, if a woman said to me, "I'm going to fondle your balls", I would generally expect my dick to get some action as well.

So, I'm curious which you are bent out of shape about. That the slang "pussy" which you agree is the whole package (or do you believe it is only the labia?) is used interchangeable with vagina, or that vagina (which we all agree is scientifically the birth canal) is used interchangably with vagina?

Oh, and "are several people that don't realize what the term "vagina" actually means because they hear it when really the speaker is referring to the entire female genitalia (pussy)"... wtf? Isn't the point of language to convey your ideas? What if the speaker SAID vagina and MEANT pussy. If I inferred vagina to be specific, even though the "speaker" had meant pussy, than *I* am wrong. The speaker misused the word, but I misconstrued the meaning. Maybe we're both wrong?

Maybe it really doesn't friggin' matter! If you want to combat ignorance, one petty stop at a time, start worrying more about things like people not knowing the difference between there, their and they're, or won't and wont, or than and then.

What about when people say "same difference"? So, it's two subtraction problems with the same outcome? Or what about "I could care less"? So, you care at least a little? When they obviously mean they couldn't care less. *shrug* I have petty opinions about speech, too. Frankly, I find mine to be much more annoying that the pussy/vagina debacle you have brought to us.

vyrmillion 11-19-2007 09:16 AM

Cunt. Now I know a few lesbian girls and their friends who have taken back the word cunt and made it their own . Not derogatory. They love their cunts and treat them with fondness and respect.
I myself have offered to treat their cunts with similar respect and have only a few times been allowed to :)
I think it is not really the word it is how you use it totally.
As for pussy - it is a concept as well as a thing - it is the thing we seek/crave/fuck/love/- pussy can even refer to a person. And some sick twisted fucks also use it to refer to cats !
What are THEY thinking!?!?!?

Re 'I could care Less' .... could that mean "I could care less about what you are saying (but it is unlikely)= inferred " hence they dont care much about it ?
Just a thought
Granted many of the gimbos who use that as a terminology of theirs, have such a rudimentary grasp of the language that it is unlikely .

Hurray for female reproductive (and even the not so reproductive - yay pro choice) organs . Cause they are a damn fine design and I love to make em mine - by proxy .
Fore-cheers ! (not a mis-spell),
OOX

Is her cat a girl cat or a boy cat?

Naming a boy cat Pussy would seem silly to me.

I have come to believe, through reading this thread... That the confusion is not actually what the word pussy refers too, I believe the confusion is simply that Cyborg Ninja doesn't understand that it is a slang and not a medical term? Honestly... Who teaches the word pussy in any form of sex ed classes? I mean, I have read through here, and there is some off-topic discussion about it being a vulgar word, but that wasn't what the thread was about.

What my interpretation of Cyborg Ninjas point is that Vagina and Vulva (not slang), are not to be referred to by the slang word pussy.

Pussy is what you get after a really good date. Vagina is what you take to the OB-GYN. I guess I'm a little amused by this whole debate because how many times do these words actually come up together in a single conversation?

And Xepherys... the then vs. than abuse is the modern classic linguistic misfire that drives me crazy. That and ending a sentence with the word "at". Where are you "at"? Uuugh... :)

The word, "fanny," in the UK is an offensive word used to describe a woman's genitals. It's probably worse than cunt to some (which means that American tourists talking about their "fanny packs" are even more offensive than their choice of belt suggests).

The thing is... language does change in meaning over time. If vagina means the whole package now. Who am I to argue?

OMG I learned the UK definition of fanny the hard way. I used fanny instead of ass so it would be less offensive to the lady I was speaking with. She laughed and told me it had the opposite effect.

The meanings of slang to change over time, and can vary from person to person. Age group to age group. Location to location. It is, after all, slang. When I was a kid, gay meant happy. Even choke a chicken had an entirely different meaning. I've heard the word "pussy" to mean many different things, just like "chocolate".

LOL...thanks.

I had guessed you weren't mad, but I needed to find a sentence to end with "at"...at least one that was more acceptable. So, that's what I came up with.

Although I didn't grow up in the US, I have lived in several different states. The first time I heard this, (ending a sentence with at) was when I got to Ohio. Wierd!!!
