Please realize this. God, how many times have I seen younger guys equate the two. Pussy is not vagina, vulva is not vagina, etc. It's not even acceptable slang because it's still WRONG. And the funny thing is, once I tried to tell some dumb kids on a board this and they were stupefied.

I think it's commonly accepted slang that pussy = the thing you fuck.

It's not like slang is necessarily supposed to explain scientific physiology of what it's directed at.

I cannot imagine the distinction you're trying to make. How, exactly, do you define the two to have such totally disparate meanings and why does it bother you so much that people conflate them?

As long as people are people, they will take the simple and make it complex.

Because the Vagina Monologues is a jok... because in using slang with enthusiasm, monologuers attempt to reclaim derogatory terms. At least that's how it was explained to me by someone who took part.

Agreed, while technically the vagina is the muscular canal extending from the uterus to the exterior of the body, AKA the birth canal. I think what most of us aren't getting is the question of why this matters, not that from an exceedingly linguistic perspective you are, I suppose, correct. Pussy is slang and is really only used in contexts where it makes essentially no difference to what exact part of the female genitalia it refers whether that be interior or exterior. There's no meaningful difference between the words for purposes of usage, since no doctor is ever going to talk about a patient's "pussy" and that's really the only time that any distinction between the two words would ever have any impact.

Your point leaves most of us hanging because we're unable to see why making sure everyone knows exactly what these two words refer to in exacting terms makes a difference, and some random dig on abstinence-only education does little to illuminate your OP.

OK, what I don't understand (and what you have still yet to define) is what body part do YOU use 'pussy' to refer to? It's not exactly a medical term. I get the impression you use 'pussy' to refer to the vulva...why do you assume that other people are using it to refer to the same?

If someone says "I want to put my dick in your pussy", then clearly they are using pussy in that context to refer to the vagina.

If someone says, "I can see your pussy!" then unless there is some serious spreading going on, they're using it to mean vulva.

How are either of these 'wrong'? Your vague reference to abstinence only education doesn't clarify your point.
