meanSpleen, is that a new Peyroux album? Really loved Dreamland and Careless Love.
I'm enjoying The Life Pursuit by Belle and Sebastian quite a bit. |
Hey avernus
The Got You On My Mind album actually came out between Dreamland and Careless Love. Somewhere near the end of the eight year gap between the two solo albums. Compared to those two albums, it just sounds a little bit lighter with a little bit more of the french tonality and a little less of the deep blues sound that she stepped into on a few other tracks. |
I was told I absolutely HAD to spend money today for some immigration thing... I don't know. Anyway, I bought:
Demons And Wizards - Touched By The Crimson King Eagles Of Death Metal - Death By Sexy I didn't really need to buy either one of them, as I've had them both downloaded for some time, but I figured I'd go ahead and support the artists... or something equally noble. |
Mmmm... i expected more out of Imogen

a performance of cornelius cardew's "treatise" |
I just picked up Panic at the Disco, and it's okay. I like about 3 songs, and the rest I can take or leave. My friends said it was great and I'd love it, but I don't have that feeling yet. I haven't purchased a CD in a while, so I'm kind of bummed. I guess that's why I don't buy cd's too often.

Tupac's Greatest hits album

Couple of weeks ago, I was killing time between trading off my kids to my wife at 10:30 and Karate class at noon, so I popped over to the used record store and picked up Queen - Live at Wembly in 86, BÖC - Extraterrestrial Live, and Jethro Tull - Broadsword and the Beast. I just saw Queen with the former lead singer from Bad Company whose name secapes me at the moment about a month ago, and I had only their best of and a half dozen MP3s. It's pretty good, but you can sort of tell that Freddy was starting to flag a bit. The other two are, while good in their way, mostly purchases to fill collection gaps.

Alan Jackson - Precious Memories
Yeah, it's a country artist, and yeah, it's all church hymns. But, they're done well...very well, and it's what I grew up with. I like it. I know all the songs, and can sing 'em, too! |

Our most recent purchase included:
Her Space Holiday - The <strike>Past</strike> Presents the Future The Flaming Lips - At War With the Mystics |
I havent done this for awhile so:
A couple months ago I got Imogen Heap's 'Speak For Yourself.' Friggin amazing. I also picked up a Rod Stewart collection, a Clapton collection, a mixed Fifties album, and a Duke Ellington/Rosemary Clooney collaboration which was excellent. More recently I picked up a Buddy Rich live album 'Big Swing Face', John Legend's 'Get Lifted' and Gnarls Barkley's debut 'St. Elsewhere'. Both of which are excellent as well. Im dissapointed I took so long to pick up 'Get Lifted', I had been meaning to get it earlier but I never got around to it. I'm kicking myself now, considering I could have had this disc a long time ago. Next up, I'm looking into the rap genre a little more. Some of Common's older stuff, maybe checking out Keak Da Sneak, and some more underground hip-hop. |
Last CD binge I went on was:
Tool -- 10,000 Days AC/DC -- Back in Black and The Razor's Edge Waking Ashland -- Composure |
Sufjan Stevens - Come on and feel the ILLINOISE!
I was pleasantly surprised by this mellowed out album. I had never really heard Sufjan Stevens, and the album kindof broke my pre-concieved sound that I had expected it, which I liked. 'The Count Meets the Duke: Duke Ellington and Count Basie' I'm kind of pissed because I havent gotten to listen to this yet... But I think I just realized the reason it isn't working on my computer... Does SACD have any compatibility issues with players? |
|
Mos Def - Black On Both Sides
Talib Kweli & Mos Def are...BlackStar Busta Rhymes - The Big Bang All dope albums, although Mos Def's album is by far my favorite. He's one of the dopest lyricists to bless the mic, imo. |

kadath,
Hey, I haven't managed to see you around before (well, at least the tribe avatar called out to me). (Native Clevelander) Well, I actually bought some cd's for the first time in a while (all for $6 total, got them at a record store on Chestnut in philadelphia). P.O.S. - Audition: I was pretty excited to get this (previously, I just heard 'P.O.S. is ruining your life'), and so far, it's mixed. I've only listened to about half of the cd so far. Some of the tracks just remind too much of stale Rap/Rock that was popular in the late 90's, early 00s. Some of the other ones sounded fresh though. The other two I picked out just because I thought the albums' cover art looked like something I'd like and I just decided to take a chance for the heck of it (I never really do this, but I'm glad I did) Astronautilus - You and yer good ideas. This is pretty unique and I like it. He raps over a light beat and melody that is sort of ambiant and indie pop-like. The only thing I can compare to is maybe, clouddead, but less minimalist. Pete camoflague - miser is relative. I haven't listened to it yet, I probably will this weekend. Catcha back on the flipside, keyshawn |
