I am in unfamiliar territory here because I never rash. Here I am with a big one that covers my forehead. It is like I have goosebumps. The area is dry, but not yet red. I wonder what it might be and what could have caused it.

Possible causes: the mask I rented to play paintball. It had a lot of peoples sweat in the padding. Ew.
Or, my leather hat from Mexico. Never know where it had been before I bought it.
Or, the weather? I never had bad allergies, but I know that can change.

Anyone have any ideas?

It almost sounds like eczema, rather than an allergy. But hey, I'm not a doc, just a mom.

Try dabbing a little hydrocortisone cream on the area. It should help eithe way.

Have you recently switched hair products? When I switched to a new shampoo I got a rash on my forehead. The same thing happened when I started using a different curl tamer.

Perhaps contact dermatitis. Probably that nasty rented mask.

Skin comes into something new and dangerous and freaks out.

Happens to me around certain kinds of paints and nothing else.

Take a steamy shower. Hit up the Benadryll. Don't itch it.

DON'T LISTEN TO HIM. Or at least not the "steamy shower" part.

If it's contact dermatitis (and I get it with random things: calculus books, plastic grocery bags, tanning lotions), you don't want to heat it up. It will itch more! Actually, nearly anything that itches with get worse with heat.. cool water (or very cold water, if you can stand it at the end of a warm/hot shower) will help stop the itching.

I had really bad contact dermatitis from a tanning lotion in high school. Took two rounds of steroid treatment to get rid of the rash. If it doesn't go away in a couple of days with Benadryl, hydrocortisone cream, and leaving it the hell alone or gets worse/spreads, go to a doctor. You might need a cortisone injection or other steroid treatment.

Feels awesome during.. but not after, when you itch so much you feel like slicing your own skin off and giving it away.

My solution: hot/steamy shower, with a nice minute-long blast of COLD water at the end. Also prevents me from getting the post-lotionizing itchies that come from being too warm when I apply it. It's good for waking up, too.

you didn't actually say if it was itchy, is it?
Is it raised or flat?
is it spreading or staying local?
dry? weeping? aggravated by water or heat?
PM me if you'd like an herbalist's perspective. I treat a lot of dermatitis.

It's not ITCHY but the dryness causes its own sort of itch. I would say that it only bothers me when I think about it. Its been around for about 3 days now, it seems to cover most of my forehead. I'm just thankful it isn't red or discolored. It is simply dry sand papery skin. I'll get some cream during my lunch break.
