Insomnia

I'm not sure, but I think I have insomnia. I don't get tired unless it's like 4 AM and then I have to wake up at 8 for classes...then I come home and usually take a nap and stay up til 4 AM again.

Anyway to break this cycle besides going to bed earlier?

Maybe try and force yourself to not take the nap after the lessons? You will then be tired enough to go to bed earlier...

Or try not to think about sleeping when you're going to sleep...
Otherwise you are almost having stress because you're basicly saying to yourself: SLEEP! NOW! FASTER!

Yup. The problem lies in that you take a nap and thus don't get tired early enough to go to bed at a reasonable time. Try less caffeine as well.

only probllem is that I have lacrosse practice 3 hours after school, and usually if i dont have that nap im dead tired for practice....

SecretMethod70 suggested that you try less caffeine. I suggest you try more caffeine. It will keep you functioning while you're at practice, and will have used up all of your nutritional resources by the time you get home, removing all blocks to your sleeping soundly.

Short form: Chug Coke.

I suggest NOT taking a nap before practice. Caffeine or another power drink ahead of time will give you the energy you need. Also, eat something substantial for dinner after practice. This will put your body into a natural comatose state as your body absorbs the energy.

It's good that you are getting a workout in, because that can help a lot with getting to sleep. There are a lot of natural things that can help you get to sleep better. Watching TV or listening to music late at night can keep you up even after you turn it off. A cup of tea or warm milk can help you sleep. I think you should avoid caffeine once the afternoon rolls around, because that can keep you awake and restless even if you aren't feeling energetic from it.

Feeling tired after a large meal is typically a sign of not getting good enough sleep. It's not a natural effect of a large meal. The problem with caffeine is that its presence in the body prevents a sound sleep even once one gets to sleep. i donno but the same kinda thing happens to mee.. i kcan fall asleep earlier in the night.. and when i wake up to go to bed.. i cant fall asleep for hours its wierd

god damn. i was off caffine all last semester, and it was GREAT! i felt better, and i slept much better. This semester is a whole different story... i just have too many classes to get a full nights sleep. (that and a little to much internet...)

OK, come on, I was talking about the general large meal = tired myth, not the specific food item with tryptophan(sp?) = tired fact.
