Macintosh Help
I accidentally dragged a .dmg file into my finder toolbar. I don't want it there but I can't get it out of the finder. I deleted the .dmg when I was done with it now comes up as a question mark.
e.g. How do I get the question mark out of there, I've done everything I could think of. |

Control-click on the toolbar, and you can remove items and edit the toolbar.
Yeah, just tried it then. Control- or right-click

so i dont have to start a new topic:
I mom (a basic computer user) disiced it was time to upgrade her computer from win98 to a iBook G4 after using mine over brake. Could anyone recommend a good how-to book for someone new to OSX?

The way OS X is set up, a book isn't terribly necessary. The help files on the system, if you ever need them, do a more than adequate job.
