Everything opens in Restore Down!!!
I don't know what's going on - all of a sudden, every window that I open opens in Restore Down instead of Maximized. Is there some setting I don't know of that has just decided to activate (or deactivate) itself? HELP!!!

So I don't exactely know what your problem is, but I'll decribe my problem and then we'll see if they're the same, hey what?
I'm running windows 2k. I at one point tiled two windows in order to see things side by side. From then on, all windows opened at half size. The way I have apparently fixed it was to minimize all my windows using the task bar right-click menu, and then open them from there. But you need to give more details about this so someone more knowlegable than I can help you.

Ok. I'm running Windows XP, and I'm using Outlook for email. Whenever I open a new message, it opens in Restore Down. When I start IE, it opens with a Restored Down window. When I open Word, the same thing happens, etc, etc, etc. The only fix is to maximize the window, then close the application. After that, it reopens maximized. But my question is, why is it opening in Restore Down to begin with?

Oof.
http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;228567 You never want a resolution to start with "To work around the problem..." It looks like Windows just sucks.

Try this. For IE I believe there was a specific reg edit you had to do but I can't find it in a quick google. If I find it I'll edit this post.
You can easily modify an application's shortcut so that it always starts minimized or maximized in Windows NT or 2000. To do this, right-click the shortcut you want to modify and choose "properties." On the Shortcut tab, there is a field called "Run:" The default is Normal Window, but you can choose either Minimized or Maximized by picking one of those two options from the drop-down box. Click OK to save your changes.
