television warrenty
My tv is a little fuzzy....
I use my tv (46" philips HDTV) for my dvd's, nintendo, xbox, and computer monitor. antenna. so really the only clear viewing is my xbox and dvd's; but i have noticed that my screen is a little fuzzy, dvd's look fine, but when i change inputs or read text from the xbox, it seems like there is a shadow of the text. as if it has two letter there one in front and one in back. when i bought my tv i got the 5 yr warrenty w/ it. so should i call and get this taken care of? will they take my tv away and fix it? will i get a new one? i know that b4 anything happens i have to call them and they will send someone to my place to take a look @ it. should i disconnect everything from my tv, except for dvd and antennae? |

They probably won't send someone out unless you bought it from a high-end dealer. If you bought it from a box shop (Best Buy, Circuit City), you might have to take it to them.
If it's annoying, I'd call. They may take it and try to fix it, but they may just give you a new one if it's a factory recall issue. I don't see where you have anything to lose just by calling and asking what they think. If it's too much of a hassle, don't do anything. |

I bought it from Visions here in Canada (like circuit city) but I already called them and asked about the warrenty and they gave me a # to call and told me that someone will come over to check it out.
I just dont know if I caused it from using my tv as a monitor. I dont want them to be able to know that and then lose my warrenty. |

I don't know how you set up your system but it sounds to me like you have a bad/cheap cable connecting two of the items.
I'm thinking signal reflection - bad impedance match - standing waves Thia would be true in the "old days". |

I don't think a beginner should attempt a convergence job.
Let someone who fixes TVs every day work on the set. Convergence is lots easier than in the old days (1950s) but there are too many things you can do wrong if you don't have experience servicing TVs. You did not do anything that the set should not handle. I don't see that you broke the warranty, yet. Don't take the back off :-) Last edited by flat5; 02-25-2006 at 05:08 PM.. |
