We all know Flea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. What is his given name? And for bonus, what band did he play in prior to RHCP? |
Flea's real name is Michael Balzary. I know in the early 80's he was the bassist for Fear. And, I know he went to Juilliard for his skills....on the trumpet.

who was the guitarist to replace Ace Frehley in kiss.
the first one. |
That was Vinnie Vincent, who I believe lasted an entire two years with the band before being replaced (again) by Bruce Kulick, who in turn was replaced by Ace Frehly. See, it's all a bit circle.
Kurt Cobain is famous for starting Nirvana with Krist Novoselic, but they went through several drummers before finding one that worked in Dave Grohl. Name one of those drummers. Or all of them, if you can. And for bonus points : Dave played drums and Kurt had the limelight as the singer and guitarist. However, Dave provided vocals on exactly one Nirvana song. Name the song and the single it was a b-side for. |

sorry, no answer here, but your Q now has me thinking of my favourite lyric over and over: "I love to hear you o-ra-lise When I'm between your thighs You blow me away" |

Actually, it was Bob Kulick (Bruce's big brother). He appeared on the studio songs on side 4 of Alive II (except "Rocket Ride"). But since KISS hid that fact until much later, Vinnie is the correct answer. Not trying to bust your chops here martian, I'm sure the populous of this thread would have been dissapointed if I didn't chime in on this :D The line is succession goes as follows: Ace Frehely Bob Kulick (temp) Ace Frehley Vinne Vincent Mark St. John (only lasted the Animalize album and tour) Bruce Kulick Ace Frehley (reunion, Pyscho Circus and Farewell tours) Tommy Thayer (all the rest) |
well hell GOT........i even forgot about Bob Kulick.
nice sluething. |
I'll admit to only having a passing familiarity with KISS, so I wasn't aware that Bob Kulick filled in before Vinnie. I also forgot about Mark St. John (I knew this beforehand but didn't remember when writing the above post) but seeing as the question was about the first replacement and not the subsequent ones, I reckon that doesn't matter.
Anyone up to speed on Nirvana trivia and want to take a crack at mine, or should I try something a little easier? EDIT - Sorry, flyman, I missed that previous post. Both of those answers are acceptable. Nirvana was officially created in '88; Kurt and Krist played prior to that together under a variety of names (such as Pen Cap Chew and the ever-charming Fecal Matter) with a man by the name of Aaron Burkhard on drums. They did a bit of work with Dale Crover here as well; he did the drumming for their first demos, including the Love Buzz demo. Finally, they settled on the name Nirvana and quickly got rid of Burkhard after he got drunk one night and ended up getting Kurt's car impounded. They briefly used a man by the name of Dave Foster here, although he's rarely mentioned. Fact is, he hardly played with them. He was hired as their second drummer in '88, but didn't even make it to the Love Buzz recordings before they sacked him (Crover filled in on that demo). After that fiasco, they settled on Chad Channing, who played drums for them from '88-'90. In 1990 they decided that Chad just wasn't right for the band, so they fired him. Crover filled in for some of their demos again, before a man by the name of Dave Grohl was referred to them. And we all know how that turned out. So, in summary, the acceptable answers (in order) are Aaron Burkhard, Dave Foster, Chad Channing and Dale Crover. As to Grohl's song, I'll give you a bit longer to see if you can dig it up. As a hint, the song Spoiler: appears only on one single as the B-Side to one specific track of the In Utero album. |
dooood.............i tried the nirvana a couple posts up

Looks like you're up then Flyman.
Astound and amaze us with you question. If that doesn't work, then just confuse the hell out of us  |
I'm going to assume that nobody's going to get the Grohl song, so in the interest of keeping things moving (and since it was a bonus question anyway), I'll give up the answer.
The song in question is called Marigold. It's rarely heard and was released as a B-side to Heart Shaped Box, behind Milk It. The song is notable because it features Dave singing and drumming, with Kurt playing guitar and providing back-up vocals. This is the only Nirvana song that was not written and sung by Cobain. Your turn, flyman. |
okay easy one.......
what is Randy Rhoads full name. i want the middle name here too. |
|
nicely done bro.........
you're up. and yes it is a good bio isn't it? |
Thinking of Randy Rhoads got me thinking of Quiet Riot.
So what two Slade songs did Quiet Riot remake? |
i only got one........

There it is
Mama Weer All Crazee Now Cum On Feel The Noize Quiet Riot thought Cum On Feel The Noize sucked! their producer made them record it. They intentionally played it crappy out of protest turned out the "punk" feel just made it a bigger hit. tag your it! |
who replaced Keith Moon of The Who (1979-1982) after his death.
|
Kenney Jones did.
While recording The Joshua Tree, Bono forgot his wife Ali's birthday, or simply failed to return home depending on who you hear it from. In any case, he was in the doghouse in a big way; to make it up to her, he wrote her a song that was reviled by his band mates and producer alike. Presumably it worked, since he's still with the same woman more than two decades later. Name that tune. |
tough one Martian............working on it
|
"With or Without You"
|
pan - Sorry, no.
Okay, let's make it a bit easier. Spoiler: At the time, the band and producer all hated the song and it didn't make the cut for the Joshua Tree, being relegated to B-Side status. However, the song was re-recordrd and released about ten years later and ended up being a single in it's own right. The video to this song is also a shameless apology to Ali. The phrase 'I'm sorry' can be seen several times and it includes some of Ali's favourite things, such as the Chippendale dancers and the band Boyzone. |
The Sweetest Thing.
/me is a huge U2 fan Along the same lines as Martian's question: The song "One Tree Hill" off of Joshua Tree is named after an actual place. Where is "One Tree Hill"? |
