Jethro Tull - Under Wraps
This is actually a really bad album but, 1) It immediately recalls the scent of my bedroom in high school (desparation), 2) Has some great lines on it ("I anticipate a cleansing opportunity/to take the horns by the bull...") and 3) Very nearly completes my Jethro Tull collection.

Airiel Down.
Saw them at Castaways, a restaurant and bar in Ocean City, MD. Went to eat with wife and neighbors on a three day vacation. Thought they kicked ass with a few covers and all of their debut album. Guys really seemed to enjoy playing even to a group of about 20 people. They call themselves a music band(as opposed to rock band) but on their site they are described as ambient rock. A little like Incubus. Bought the CD for 10 bucks. The lead singer reminds me a little of Gary Busey and Bruce Campbell with his snarling smile and big white chompers( I'm not gay, but those teeth were amazing and he knew it). Enjoyed every song and also watching them perform. |

It's sad when I haven't even heard of 3/4ths of the artists mentioned on this page.
The last cd I purchased was Childish Things by James McMurtry. It has a lot of catchy tunes. The next album I will purchase will be something by Bing Crosby. That man's voice is like velvet. My wife and I just saw "Going My Way". My wife has a crush on Bing. If he wasn't long dead, I might be jealous. Plus, I could sing like Bing if I really wanted to... |

I recently bought a cd called "amor amor", the singer is Arielle Dombasle. The music is significantly different to what I usually listen to. It is songs from the 30's to the 50's. These websites have a samples of the tracks.
http://www.arielle-dombasle.net/ (has some music in the intro so be careful if you're opening it somewhere where being quiet is necessary). http://www.shock.com.au/releases/inf...ase_ID=2615930

I loved the Ditty Bops first one, so getting the 2nd one was a no brainer. And I realized I was lacking in my Travis catalogue (I'm now up to TWO albums by them)
Out of all the CDs I bought that day, the Camera Obscura was the best of the bunch. It has received the most honor of spending the whole week in my cars cd player, which I reserve for only a select few albums. I would definitely have to rate it a 9 out of 10. -Songs that kick my butt- Lloyd, I'm Ready to Be Heartbroken Let's Get Out of This Country The False Contender The Feist album overall was just OK. I mean, its the same song listened to differently. It's nice that it starts out more jazzy then ramps up to more electric, but at the end of the day you just want to listen to the original album. There are some standouts that definitely give the original mixes a run for their money, but then there are the others that make you go "oh, that was nice". Rated 6/10 And where in the world did you get the Bic Runga album?! I thought it was Import only!! +++++ Bought the following: Lady & Bird - Lady & Bird (Keren Ann and Bardi Johannson) Mariza - Transparente (Portugese Fado)

I heard the Mark Farina - Mushroom Jazz albums are amazing. It is usually a good bet that KCRW (radio) plays at least one track off any of his albums at least once a week between releases.

http://www.kcrwmusic.com <-- online streams of music based programming. You may want to focus on 'Metropolis', the program by Jason Bentley. Playlists are abundant!
You can also listen to the radio live stream. Use the KCRWlive or KCRWmusic links at the top of the page. It is an NPR station, so no commercials outside of standard radio promotion. I prefer Metropolis, The A Track, Pop Secret and Brave New World. You may enjoy Metropolis, and The Drop. Using the on site navigation bar, go to Music, then click on Overview and Programs. Scroll down to any music programming you want, and click on Latest Show. You can listen to the most recent broadcast of the show on demand! Feel free to peruse the playlists as well.
