Not trying to be a dick but I think you should reconsider your tire size. I've been around hondas for awhile and know that 205/40/17 is the max you should go on a civic. 17s usually look too big on a hatch anyway. Sure they'll fit under there (barely), but you'll most likely rub. Not to mention that the overall diameter is larger than the factory wheel/tire diameter. This will actually lift your car off the ground more. lowering will help but not as much as you think because the civic wheel well is pretty small. Actually that 215/40/17 tire will probably fill your entire wheel well without lowering.

Just giving you some things to think about.

People in forums generally get this way whenever Honda is mentioned in any thread, and the more you defend it the worse people get.

The problem I see here however is that no matter how much you state that you aren't copying anyone else, you are still doing the same modifications everyone else is doing to their honda (ok, minus the Altezzas and bodykit). The fart pipe, the lowering, the rims, the HID lights, the carbon fiber everything, the Z3 fender, the dying, the planned GSR swap, etc... it's all been done 5 million times, and I see at least 5 cars a day with those exterior mods on em.

But regardless of what I or anyone else says about you or your car, do what you want to it, and have fun with it. Who cares if it's a waste of money as long as you enjoy doing it. You could certainly find worse things to spend your time and money on.

See, thats the part i dont understand. Most of the import tuner / "cutomizer" scene guys attempt to modify their car to express their individuality. Yet they all seem to pretty much conform in their "individuality" to the same sets of modifications. the usual body kits and wings, tires and rims, and interiors all pretty much the same.

Now, its his car, more power to him to do what he wants, but ,frankly, its not going to be one of a kind.

Complete horseshit!! It does enter into it. Somehow guys that hate imports think that there aren't a million idiots who do the same lame wack dumb shit to Mustangs and Camaros. They just hate an import for no valid reason what so ever. The pic below is a Mustang that I took a pic of. It has a wack, ugly body kit. Big fat ugly wing. Ugly rims. Dual exhaust (It's a V6). Just try and tell me that this car isn't wack as fuck. Anyway, yes, there is as much domestic "rice" as there is for imports, mainly on mustang 5.slows. That wasn't the piont of my comment. It wasn't about who rices what, and why it sucks. it was pointing out that while he may like it, it is not unique. And, despite what you may think, does not express his individuality. Now, do a RWD v-8 drop into you civic, and its unique and one of a kind. Put a rear-engine setup into it, and its unique. First off, its not about car owners being dumber than other (though some are, mustangs owners definately included). Its his car, and good on him to do whatever he wants to it. i was simply pointing out that it will NOT express his individuality unless he is a conformist. and it will not be unique.

This should in no way mean i think his car sucks or that he shouldn't modify it. Just simply that he shouldn't pretend that is an expression of who he is as a person, or that it will be unique. If anyone does think that, they either have no understanding of themselves as a person, or are desperately trying to justify their actions to what they have done, rather than just admitting they think it looks fun.

I never once said I was doing it to express my individuality. I'm doing the mods I want because I like my car, but there are subtle things about it that I'd like to change, such as the mirrors, wheels, etc.

To express my individuality, I simply am the person I am. I don't conform to anything; if something within society happens to fit me and my opinions or styles, then I'll go with it, but that doesn't make me a conformist. Seriously, how many life-long skateboarders do you know who have never done any drugs and are die-hard Republicans and are into body building and are big computer geeks and are gear heads and mountain bike 100 miles or more a week and are fitness geeks? What part of the spoiler on THIS car is not for looks? Is a spoiler on the back of the car somehow going to produce more downforce on your front wheel giving your more traction? I've never understood the aerodynamics of wings on a front-wheel drive car.

Well here's a lil' lesson fer ya:

As you're driving, air is moving all around the car (obviously). The air going over the car has further to travel, and loses speed in the process. At the same time, the air underneath the car maintains a higher pressure since it has less distance to travel. This is the same aerodynamic principle behind making airplanes fly. On top of this, the air unserneath the car begins to create upwards pressure as it exits at the rear (venturi (sp?) effect), thus pushing the car up even more, and making the rear tires lose grip. When you add a spoiler, it somewhat counters the rear lift and helps keep the rear tires glued to the road.

In short, you need grip at the rear wheels to keep the car stuck to the road. This isn't about drive-wheel grip for launching at a red light.

My guess is, that that spoiler wont make a bit of a difference until somewhere around, 120 mph?

And Basically no spoiler is agressive enough to make a bit of a difference launching from a light. Even the NHRA top fuel drag guys dont make a difference at teh launch, and theirs are huge.

And i can garauntee you that your honda wasn't manufactured requiring a spioler to create enough downforce to keep traction at freeway speeds, or even higher. No manufactorer is going to create a car, especially if they are as popular with the tuner crowd as Honda, and make it prone to lifting and flipping. Plus if it did misteriously have the rear wheel come undone from the road, your power, steering and weight are all in teh front, so it wouldn't be too big of a problem.

Now, if you hadn't claimed it was for performance reasons, that'd be one thing. I could understand a spoiler for other reasons though, and im even considering getting one for the van. They DO help disrupt the airflow over the back of the car. They can disrupt and move the air coming up from the road to further back from the car, and thus road chips and debris doesn't fly back up into the back of the car as easily, and it will help save the body and paint on the back of the car. Thats basically all most spoilers are ever good for.....if that.

The spoiler I want is for looks only. If it adds any downforce, then that's cool, but I want it for cosmetic reasons because I don't really like the short one I currently have. Got it?

Car looks pretty damn good BoCo. I like the rims you chose -- simple is better IMO.

I seriously doubt that that car will ever go fast enough for yuo to be able to notice any aerodynamic issues.

I think you need a wing, though. Make it a triple decker. Those look the best.

Wings are mostly for looks on FWD cars, but at high speeds, they are necessary to prevent severe understeer due to loss of rear-wheel traction that can (usually on a track) leave you to fly into a wall and burn. On street-only cars, kits tend to look incomplete without at least a small wing.

Near sub 6 seconds is slow? It's not Corvette territory, but pumping 240 horses out of four cylinders without forced air is pretty impressive.
