Huh, I lost my train of thought. I've been watching providence, and this show is depressing as hell, i don't remeber this show ever even being on the air, however its pretty sick i'm wondering why i never watched it when it was actually a show.
I don't like little cars, i'm a truck guy. However they corner really well and i think going fast and cornering around tight little streets and turns is fun as hell so....... FUCK my train of thought has gone nuts Jessica simpson was just on TV being all sexy like! oh well i'm gonna stop ranting now Good luck w/ your car |
Not trying to be a dick but I think you should reconsider your tire size. I've been around hondas for awhile and know that 205/40/17 is the max you should go on a civic. 17s usually look too big on a hatch anyway. Sure they'll fit under there (barely), but you'll most likely rub. Not to mention that the overall diameter is larger than the factory wheel/tire diameter. This will actually lift your car off the ground more. lowering will help but not as much as you think because the civic wheel well is pretty small. Actually that 215/40/17 tire will probably fill your entire wheel well without lowering.
Just giving you some things to think about. To each their own. Enjoy your car.....afterall it is yours! By the way here is my accord: Old on 17s http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...8/fc66c907.jpg New and Improved http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...a/fc0a8f85.jpg |

You people may think it's not worth his time/money but the thing is it's his baby and it'll be one of a kind.

People in forums generally get this way whenever Honda is mentioned in any thread, and the more you defend it the worse people get. The problem I see here however is that no matter how much you state that you aren't copying anyone else, you are still doing the same modifications everyone else is doing to their honda (ok, minus the Altezzas and bodykit). The fart pipe, the lowering, the rims, the HID lights, the carbon fiber everything, the Z3 fender, the dying, the planned GSR swap, etc... it's all been done 5 million times, and I see at least 5 cars a day with those exterior mods on em. But regardless of what I or anyone else says about you or your car, do what you want to it, and have fun with it. Who cares if it's a waste of money as long as you enjoy doing it. You could certainly find worse things to spend your time and money on. |

Now, its his car, more power to him to do what he wants, but ,frankly, its not going to be one of a kind. |
I've got to agree with Peryn. It is physically, practically, and totally impossible for a modded Civic to be "one of a kind."
|
I suppose a stock Mustang is one of a kind?

Hmmm...
If you buy a Ford Mustang, put on new wheels, add a supercharger, put a big Saleen wing and body kit on it, add some new shocks and sway bars and perhaps some Recaros and a roll cage, then you're a big man! You have the biggest, fattest, most desired cock on all the land; young girls fight to the death to swing from your scrotum; old ladies faint from disbelief as you roar buy with your dual 4" exhausts growling like two caged lions. All men wish they were you; all boys look to you as an idol and roll model; your own father bows before you as though you're his new god. You can leave tire marks everywhere you go, swinging your tail out as though a sign of territorial pissings. You are The Man. And no man before you or after you will ever stand up to your massive, heaving chest! However, if you do the same mods to an imported Asian car, you're just "another one of those damn ricer guys". Yeah, that makes sense. |

^ dazam that looks like ass.

ok, first off, dont make too much fun of the wing, at least its on a rear-wheel car....course THAT wing is uselss....but still.
Anyway, yes, there is as much domestic "rice" as there is for imports, mainly on mustang 5.slows. That wasn't the piont of my comment. It wasn't about who rices what, and why it sucks. it was pointing out that while he may like it, it is not unique. And, despite what you may think, does not express his individuality. Too many others do the EXACT same thing. even if he does do an engine swap (B18 i thought he said), would not be enough to make him unique. Still, a dime a dozen, though slighty more rare. Now, do a RWD v-8 drop into you civic, and its unique and one of a kind. Put a rear-engine setup into it, and its unique. Simple engine swap, and minor body kits and redone interior = NOT expressing your individuality, but a misconception of societies trends in fashion projected onto your vision of "yourself". |
So by your logic everyone that owns a Mustang won't have a one of a kind vehicle unless they drop in a 4 banger and convert it to front wheel drive so it'll be one of a kind. Otherwise every Mustang owner is just as dumb as the rest.... That's basically what you just said.

First off, its not about car owners being dumber than other (though some are, mustangs owners definately included). Its his car, and good on him to do whatever he wants to it. i was simply pointing out that it will NOT express his individuality unless he is a conformist. and it will not be unique. This should in no way mean i think his car sucks or that he shouldn't modify it. Just simply that he shouldn't pretend that is an expression of who he is as a person, or that it will be unique. If anyone does think that, they either have no understanding of themselves as a person, or are desperately trying to justify their actions to what they have done, rather than just admitting they think it looks fun. |

I never once said I was doing it to express my individuality. I'm doing the mods I want because I like my car, but there are subtle things about it that I'd like to change, such as the mirrors, wheels, etc.
To express my individuality, I simply am the person I am. I don't conform to anything; if something within society happens to fit me and my opinions or styles, then I'll go with it, but that doesn't make me a conformist. Seriously, how many life-long skateboarders do you know who have never done any drugs and are die-hard Republicans and are into body building and are big computer geeks and are gear heads and mountain bike 100 miles or more a week and are fitness geeks? Even if I have things about me that are similar to others out there, I'm absolutely one of a kind, and so will be my car. Another thing that is really saddening to me is the lack of men that seem to be lurking around here. Real men don't buy everything already made and finished. Real men buy things and modify them to exactly fit their own tastes. Whether it's a car or a motorcycle or even a house, real men don't leave anything alone. We were made to create, modify, and completely rebuild things as a way of not only self-expression, but also as a means of technological and human evolution. Any so-called man who doesn't understand this, who buys a car and leaves it as-is, who buys stereo speakers instead of building them, who pays for a deck to be built instead of buying the wood and nails and doing it himself is not a real man. A real man does shit for himself, he doesn't watch or pay others to do it. A real man plays football instead of watching it on TV and idolizing other men half his age. A real man knows how to do more than check his oil and fill up his gas tank. Being a man is about taking an idea or an object and making it your own, even if society chooses to shun or laugh at you for doing it the way you want to. If I was a bitch like most of you, I'd take your worthless insults as gospil and sell my car and buy whatever one you all thing I should and do to it whatever you tell me to. However, I chose to keep the car I have, modify it in any way I want, and tell you all to eat my ass. That's what being a real man is all about. Fuck you. |
Boco, save all the money you'd spend on those accessories and plan for a b16c swap. The GSR engine would really get you running. You can definately get it done for around 2000 bucks.
Find a nice aftermarket turbo, run 12's all day. Who needs a nice looking interior and exterior when you can wipe the silly smirk off the mustang driver next to you? |

Second, you sound a little insecure about your "manliness" like your trying to prove to all of us that you are. You are insecure about your self and have to brag to all of us about how much better you think you are. And thridly, REAL men do what they enjoy. You seem to think you hafta be all the steriotypes to be a man. i like sportfishing, does that mean im not a *real* man because i dont make ALL of my own poles? I like hunting, does that mean im not a *real* man because i buy my gun pre-made? And i hate plumbing. So i pay some other sucker good money to do it for me (when i can). so suddenly im not a *real* man because i can decide to not do something i dont enjoy? Dont tell me what a real man is all about, especially if your simply mouthing off steriotypes. Quote:

With all the time Boco's spent on here insulting people, he could have fitted his wheels and LED wiper lights. When's the next progress report?
|
The wheels are already on his car, and I think they look great. Plus he just got his seats yesterday.
CLICKY He's not insulting people any more than they are him. So everyone chill the fuck out. If you don't have anything good to say the shut up. That means everyone. There's been enough bullshit going on in this thread and it's time for it to stop. |
raiding the accessories aisle in the peb boys huh?
"My blue windshield wiper squirters are really lasers!!" I spray fast, cause I drive fast........ |

There are about 50 things in this thread that make you sound like an idiot. I will pick this one.

As you're driving, air is moving all around the car (obviously). The air going over the car has further to travel, and loses speed in the process. At the same time, the air underneath the car maintains a higher pressure since it has less distance to travel. This is the same aerodynamic principle behind making airplanes fly. On top of this, the air unserneath the car begins to create upwards pressure as it exits at the rear (venturi (sp?) effect), thus pushing the car up even more, and making the rear tires lose grip. When you add a spoiler, it somewhat counters the rear lift and helps keep the rear tires glued to the road. In short, you need grip at the rear wheels to keep the car stuck to the road. This isn't about drive-wheel grip for launching at a red light. |
My guess is, that that spoiler wont make a bit of a difference until somewhere around, 120 mph?
And Basically no spoiler is agressive enough to make a bit of a difference launching from a light. Even the NHRA top fuel drag guys dont make a difference at teh launch, and theirs are huge. And i can garauntee you that your honda wasn't manufactured requiring a spioler to create enough downforce to keep traction at freeway speeds, or even higher. No manufactorer is going to create a car, especially if they are as popular with the tuner crowd as Honda, and make it prone to lifting and flipping. Plus if it did misteriously have the rear wheel come undone from the road, your power, steering and weight are all in teh front, so it wouldn't be too big of a problem. Now, if you hadn't claimed it was for performance reasons, that'd be one thing. I could understand a spoiler for other reasons though, and im even considering getting one for the van. They DO help disrupt the airflow over the back of the car. They can disrupt and move the air coming up from the road to further back from the car, and thus road chips and debris doesn't fly back up into the back of the car as easily, and it will help save the body and paint on the back of the car. Thats basically all most spoilers are ever good for.....if that. |
The spoiler I want is for looks only. If it adds any downforce, then that's cool, but I want it for cosmetic reasons because I don't really like the short one I currently have. Got it?
|
Car looks pretty damn good BoCo. I like the rims you chose -- simple is better IMO.
|
I seriously doubt that that car will ever go fast enough for yuo to be able to notice any aerodynamic issues.
I think you need a wing, though. Make it a triple decker. Those look the best. Quote:

Near sub 6 seconds is slow? It's not Corvette territory, but pumping 240 horses out of four cylinders without forced air is pretty impressive.
--EDIT-- Looking back, I didn't see the third page, and thus, my above post is horribly outdated in terms of this thread. Move along, nothing to see. :) --EDIT-- |
Mr Selfdestruct, I think you mean oversteer.
