Crushed Smile
This is dedicated to a friend - we were all in a close-knit music scene.......she is loved and will be dearly missed. Very last-minute writing, since it happend so suddenly....
Bending to make a straight line Where the sunlight breaks to catch the time Nothing bitter, nothing sweet In life’s hands were the soul’s frozen feet Falling nowhere but so close to the edge There’s so much inside but nothing said A crushed smile renders a sway Beckoning new chances, new thoughts, new days These nights embrace the cold dawned upon Dreams once held; the memories are all but gone.

Even without your note prior to the poem, I feel the haggardness - thoughts and ideas bouncing all over. It would be interesting to see what would come without the structure - to see if your writing would mimic the organization of your thoughts.
