Hit and Run
Around 7 this morning, I was driving to school on 2920, a 4 lane highway with a turn lane in the middle. There's a fire station on the road and traffic from the red light backs all the cars way up, so they put a special line for people to stop at just in case a fire truck needs to get out. So I stop at the line and here comes a Ford F250, a dually, out of the fire station. He shoots out in front of my lane, the lane next to me and the middle turn lane, then proceeds to hit a small SUV going the other way. He hit him right on the driver door and the SUV did a 360. When the dually was crossing I could see the driver had his fire uniform on, because I could see his shoulder patch. After he hit the SUV, he slowed down for a couple seconds, then sped off. Oh yes, the fireman left the scene of an accident. I couldn't believe he did that, I would think he would stop and help. Specially because, you know, he's a fucking fireman. While I was still waiting for the light to turn green, the SUV driver got out and a fireman walked out of the station to help too. The driver was alright, but no way that his vehicle was going anywhere.
So when I got to school about 5 minutes later I called up that station, but didn't get an answer. After school, a good 7 hours later I called again and told them what I saw. They told me it was a firefighter from a different station who was leaving to go home and that he stopped a little ways down from where the accident was because "he didn't think it was safe to stop in the middle of the road." Riiiiiiiiiiight. They told me the fireman and the other driver exchanged info, but no one was found to be at fault. I clearly saw someone was at fault, the fireman. Total bullshit, but hey, what can I do. Thanks for reading my rant. My question is, has anyone ever been involved in a hit and run? Did you ever catch the runner?

I had my car totaled by a hit and runner. They never caught the guy. I was upside down on the loan, so even though I had insurance, it sucked to be me.
A truck forced my wife off the road and into a tree. Because the truck didn't actually TOUCH her car, even though she had a bunch of witnesses, it was impossible to prove the truck was at fault. The moral? If you are going to have an accident, be sure to get hit. And get hit hard enough to take someone down with you.

Hey have you called the non emergency police number and informed them of what you saw? Just call them up and say on the date in the morning at around x time you were on the road and would like to be a witness in the thing placing the fireman at fault. You should be connected to the officer in charge and he should come to you for a statement.

No I haven't, Xerxys. I doubt it would really do much good now, if they exchanged info and it's been determined no one was at fault. Police probably did show up to the crash site too, as the SUV was not able to move on it's own. And it partially blocked a lane. Next time, I'll definitely do that though.

Only one I've ever seen was when I was in San Diego. This car was parked on the side of the road and I was coming out of a place where I'd just eaten lunch. This car was pulling out of its spot and knocked over an unattended motorcycle behind him. It was the middle of the afternoon and like 50 people were around, but the dude just took off.
People suck.
