Games everyone loves but you hate
Who has played games that get outstanding reviews and praise from anyone who plays them, but you just plain don't like them?
For me it was Metroid Prime. The funny thing is, I love first person shooters, I love puzzle games, I love platformers, and I love the 2d Metroids, but this game just bored me beyond belief. Anyone out there have any similar experiences? |

Halo multiplayer. I can't stand it, it's so boring. Also, Disgeia and La Pucelle. They just look so boring and washed out and all the menus. God...

Resident Evil 4 sucks as well. They have slowly abandoned the original concept. Half Life and Half life 2 as well as all mmorpg's are bad. Last edited by Justsomeguy; 01-16-2005 at 12:42 PM.. |

Halo multiplayer is really annoying when your against people who play it all the time and then start patting themselves on the back going "Yeah! I fucked you up!" and the best response is something along the lines of "yeah man, good job on killing me seeing as how ive played the game twice, you rock" |

Every and any racing game, Gran Turismo series probably being the most popular in the racing genre, and I just can't stand it.
I don't get along with most FPS either. Half-Life2 is probably the one I liked the most so far, and Halo I can tolerate, but "realistic" historical shooter such as Battlefield: Vietnam (or 1942) are really boring me. |

GTA series. If I wanted to carjack someone or beat a ho, I would. And any of the historical Battlefield series. People actually died during those events. It is not a game.

Any Gran Turismo game, any Final Fantasy game, any Resident Evil game. Pretty much everything by Capcom and Squaresoft/Square-Enix (Except for the old Dragon Warrior/Dragon Quest games, those were cool), it seems every new game they make is the same as the last game.

I must say I'm surprised by a lot of the responses in this thread. To those who say, "All of the GTA games," have you actually played ALL of the GTA games? The only time I was ever bored while playing San Andreas was AFTER I had beaten it, and had no more missions to complete. The same with Vice City. You need to complete missions to truly experience the games. Many people start one up, thinking the game is all about running around, killing as many people as you can, and stealing as many cars as you can. Of course you'll get bored doing that. What many of these people don't realize is there are missions to complete that add substance to the game.
Bah. As for me, I'd have to say just about any racing game I've played other than Super Mario Kart, F-Zero, and the first Gran Turismo. Not that all the other games are bad, but they're....all...THE SAME!

Half-Life 2, Halo, GTA3 and Up. Yes, I played all the missions, they were still boring and repetetive. I couldnt stand Zelda: The Wind-Wanker. Most of the FF games that I have played bored me as well.

Halo- It's not that I hate it, I'm just indifferent and don't think that it's the greatest ever. It's just another stereotypical first person shooter to me.
MGS- I feel that the controls are twitchy and their is just too much emphasis on cinematics instead of gameplay. There I said it... |

id have to say halo,
and gta - the missions get repetative fast and boring. quake was crap as well. apart from the whole technological point, but the game was pretty horrible. same as quake 3. oh and doom3 and doom 2 come to think of it. doom 1 was great tho. warcraft 1 was bad. woah now that brought back memories. i can think of a few games that were the opposite, everyone said they sucked but i loved them. Star wars rebellion comes to mind.

Final Fantasy Seven.
I hate the fuckers who treasure/worship this game, but when I ask them what it was about, they utilize and endless stream of "Ummm"s, "Well"s, and other placeholders signifying that the game was about as comprehensible as the time I banged Ashley Judd.

I started playing it, got through about 10 missions or so, got bored of it, looked up the cheats, started majorly blowing shit up, got bored of blowing shit up... And when I'm at a friends house and he shows me GTA, he always uses a cheat code to accomplish and to show off shit. Doesn't that defeat the purpose? Glad I only spent $5 on it.

Yep, I've played GTA 3, Vice and San Adreas. From my experience, they are just boring after a while. After the whole "cool I can do whatever I want" wears off, the GTA games just don't offer much up for me. I have the same reaction that you do when people say Halo is crap, because I have such fond memories playing Halo Multiplayer way to much with my college buddies. I guess thats why they make a ton of video games this year, so everyone can find something they enjoy. |

The summons were beautiful, the story was well-developed, the graphics were solid for its time, the bonuses were very rewarding and very challenging, and the characters were very distinguished. It was a very good game. Especially for when it was realeased. Just look at when it came out. |

halo - i guess i don't hate the game... i just don't see why people go bonkers over it. it seems like a run-of-the-mill fps to me.
gta - sluggish controls, poor graphics, weak story. beyond the cheap thrills of violence there just isn't much to it. unreal tournament - the whole engine seems to be "off" for me. everyone in the office used to play this after hours... i just couldn't get into it. maybe it's cause i sucked so bad. final fantasy X - i like the FF series (especially from FFVII on back), but this was just a long cut scene broken by short opportunities to steer your character to another cutscene. haven't played a FF since. king of fighters - tried and tried to like this one as much as street fighter. i mean, i really wanted to like this. but, even after that, the control seemed sluggish and the moveset seemed ineloquent when trying to execute what i wanted to do. resident evil - control was awful. the game seemed to rely a lot of scaring you for its effect, something i never got from it. metal gear solid 2 - i felt the first metal gear solid did a lot to advance the series but the second was a just a setpiece to show off storytelling and graphical sharpness... not to be fun.
