Xbox Live CS
so howo many of you guys here are playin this? I just picked up a copy today and intent on playing it tomorrow. Looks good. I was highly addicted to the comp version of CS, played it for years. Still love it =) Oh, and how do the rankings work? Is there yearly / weekly / monthly etc? And can you change names while on so u can have sort of a goon profile with real shat stats, then your "elite" profile? :P

I got Counter-Strike for the Xbox a week or so ago, I'm enjoying it more than Rainbow Six 3. I think the multiplayer (team)deathmatch in Rainbow Six 3 is pretty fucking lame, the maps are too fucking small for 16 people. I only enjoyed the Co-Op missions online for Rainbow Six 3 (Where you and three other friends do the single player missions). I'm enjoying Counter-Strike right now, my favorite map (right now) is the Xbox-exclusive "Miami" map. It is a Hostage-Rescue scenario inside of a bank where some Terrorists attempted to rob a bank. The maps are: Dust, Dust2, Cobble, Italy, Militia, Fastline, Vostok, Truth, Tides, Airstrip, Aztec, Piranesi, Prodigy, and there are some more, but I can't remember them (There are also some new maps coming for downloadable content soon.).
My XBL screenname is epsilonomega, add me and we might play sometime.

I love CS, don't get me wrong, but I honestly like Rainbow Six more. I don't suppose either of you are playing?

Rainbow Six 3's online play is a joke, the maps are way too small for 16 people. The only thing I enjoyed about RS3 was the online co-op play that let you do the single player missions with 3 other people.

Ok, all I'm saying is that I enjoyed it more... I agree, the maps are way too small for 16 people, but I liked the pace... and the co-op missions are fun.
Still, I wonder how much better CS is on Live versus PC?

I heard (have the game, but no time to play!) the graphics are PS1 quality, but the team mission modes help save the day. Most of my buddies still play rainbow even though we all have both.

I have/had both and prefer Rainbow Six. I pre-ordered Counter Strike and picked it up the day it was released. Played for about two hours and took it back to EB. I though the graphics were somewhere between SoF2 and RTCW. Actually they were about the same as SoF2 which is not saying much. I'm not a fan of games like Wolfenstein and CS because of all the jumping and shooting. It's just too arcade for me. The game is already dropping in price at EB so when it drops down to $30 I'll pick it up again.
If you want open combat then Ghost Recon is the one and if you want close-in firefights then Ranbow Six is it. Just my opion... |

The 2 free months deal is on a scratch-off card in the DVD case of the bundled game. I just bought an Xbox myself. Liking it so far. If you like racing games, Project Gotham Racing 2 has lots of Live integration and should give you a good overview of the service's capabilities. |

Yeah, at first I was skeptical of the pricing, but after having it for about 9 months now, I can honestly say it's worth it.

Live is definately worth it. I have found my "solo gaming" makes up about 25% of my gaming time now. 75% is dedicated to Live.
Human Opponents beat AI every day of the week, plus you get to play with your buddies like they are sitting beside you. My best advice for live is cultivate a great Friends list and stick with it. Otherwise you may run into a 12 y/o kid with a mouth like a sailor. ![]()
