The time has come for a new TV plus its Christmas time. I am posting this question here because I mainly use my TV for my Xbox and gaming. My old TV was pretty crappy. Playing my Xbox through an RF switch adapter I could tell that I wasn't experiencing the real power of the graphics from the games. Plus, with the new year I plan on purchasing my second console, a Gamecube. I want a TV that I can hookup my consoles without any adapters and one that just.........kicks ass. Suggestions, hints, etc. What are you using and would do your prefer? Money wise lets cap the money I want to spend at $400. $500 the absolute (Absolute) maximum. Thanks for your help.

I would go for a nice JVC 27" (Stereo). After you get past 27", all you are buying and paying extra for is the ability to sit further back from the TV...a waste of money in my opinion. My JVC has three inputs, two in the back and one on the front (plenty for a GameCube and Xbox). It's the best TV for the price, also. I haven't checked in a while but I think it's around 270 or 300. You can use your RCA/AV cables with this TV, instead of those God-awful RF switches daisy chained.

I'm not a fanboy, but I have to recommend a JVC! I got a 27" the year before last for Christmas and it's easily the best TV I've ever used. It has THREE sets of A/V inputs (two on back, 1 on front), 1 S-Video input, 1 Component video input, digital comb filter, all of the goodies. It's also at a 4:3 resolution. Not to mention the stereo sound which is amazing as well. Mine was $500 when I bought it, but two of my friends bought the same TV this past summer for $300. It's one hell of a deal. This TV is also lighter than most (making it easier to move if need be). It's really convenient to have the Gamecube, XBox, PS2, and SNES all hooked up on the same TV without daisy-chaining or using the VCR inputs.

My TV looks physically like that, even though it's not the same model. I'd highly consider a JVC!

whatever you do, PLEASE don't buy an RCA......every damn RCA television I've owned has been a piece of crap

Have to agree on the no RCA side. We have a 36" one now that the fine tuning on the channel select has gone out AGAIN.
(Some channels work, some have to "warm up")

JVC is good.

Oh, don't go for projection or plasma or such if you want to play lightgun games. They won't work.

Panasonic make great tv's!
Make sure it has video component input... preferably more than one... the video from ur console / dvd player thru component video (provided the device supports it - im pretty sure xbox does?) will be soooooooooooo crisp.

i have 2 RCA's and they both work great one of which is about 6 years old and the other is about 4 both 27"

S-vid etc inputs and whatnot also for the lack of inputs (only has 2 in the back)

for the lack of inputs look into this

it lets you hook up to 4 devices all into this box and can also output all of them to S-Vid IF YOU HAVE INPUT FROM THE DEVICE AS S-VID AS WELL!!!!

other than that it will use the standard red/yellow/white jacks for the video and audio
