You guys might find these vids quite funny. Or annoying, depending on whether or not you've been in the situation.

I had to stop playing during my exam/project turn in time. I'm starting to pick it up again, but it's a shame that the TFP server isn't working now.
Also, is there a reason why 80% of the servers I click on say that I cannot connect to it? It seems like I can only join the ones that are playing 2fort or well, and I'm really sick of those maps. |

I'm still flip-flopping on whether to buy TF2. aberkok is supposed to be on my case.
EDIT: Okay, here we go! I got it! That's right, you read correctly, I got it. I'm actually installing it now. Wo0t! Frag you later.

You didn't do bad at all for your first time, Baraka (this is DOOMTRAIN). With a little more practice, you'll start to develop the "twitch reflex".
My suggestion is stick with the soldier for a little bit. He's really easy to get kills with because of the rocket's splash damage. Pyro is pretty easy too once you learn how to get in close without dying. A couple more matches and you'll be as good as me. |

Hey, man. It was like I was a lamb for slaughter out there.
Seriously, though. This game has quite a learning curve. It certainly looks well designed. I like it; I just have to figure it out. I think I understand how it's supposed to fit together with the classes and teamwork. Now I just have to know how to make it happen. It was good to get all the extra help in-game. It was enlightening to see some of the demonstrations and get some tips. I noticed there are tips in-game too. I'm going to check out some strategy guides. I think I'll be a passable player in time. (Though I doubt I'll be as good as you, considering how "efficient" you seemed. I could never be that way, I don't think.) I picture myself being a good "support" character. Perhaps as a grunt soldier leading the front or as a medic or defensive character such as a demolition guy or a heavy. I dunno. I'm sure I'll figure it out. Thanks.

The gameplay is way different (in a good way) from most shooters I've played. It has cartoon-like proportions, if that is any indication. You have some classes that run twice as fast (or more) as others, and you have huge disparities between weapon power and abilities, ranges, effects, etc. If you haven't read up any on how TF2 works, you should. HL2 will give you some basic training, but advanced tactics will only be picked up in game. Hope to see you on some time. Could use another newb.

After my HD died I havent reinstalled tf2, it just doesn't have the kind of game play that holds my attention.
COD4 on the other hand does for now, it reminds me of old school CS and when the settings are set right on hard core it plays pretty much the same but with better graphics/guns/options.

I most recently tried the Medic. I liked it quite a bit. I think I'll be playing him a lot. Everyone likes the Medic. Uber'ed Pyros are most fearful, as are Heavies.

I can't get the hang of any other class in TF2 except the medic. The medic is by far the most fun for me. It seems like I die over and over as any other class unless I have a medic with me, and that sure as hell never happens.

I'm getting really into the Heavy class. I have a coworker who plays medic with me at night. We both record TF2 videos with We Game. Anyone else use this app/site? It's pretty awesome. This is a video of me as Heavy taken from the coworker medic's perspective:
I'm not sure I'm looking forward to the unlockables. I am looking forward to the new mine cart game mode though. Sounds awesome. |
