As a side note, I've got a bit of a rant about Tim Horton's coffee. You ever notice that the coffee tastes different from store-to-store? You would think that the coffee is the same. And it probably is. But I'll bet that I (and other Tim Horton's junkies out there) could blind taste-test Tim's coffee from our "regular" locations, and from others. I'm a driver for a major delivery company, and I'm in the drive-thru 2-3 times a day for coffee. I go to the same Tim's each time. However, if I'm on a trip and stop at a foreign Tim's, or even a Tim's in the city, it's different. You all know what I'm talking about. I hope. |

1. The discussion was around the consistency of coffee at a Tim Hortons. When I said bad I mean bad compared to what you normally get from them 99 (or more) our of 100 times. They, like McDonalds, are supposed to be know for their consistency. A Double Double is a Double Double in Halifax and it is the same as one in Saskatoon or Vancouver. 2. nescafe? Instant?

If the machine isn't cleaned at least once per shift, the nozzles will clog up. Then it will taste like hot water, since that's basically what it'll be. More on topic... when I make my own coffee I drink it straight, but I always order sugar in my Tim's coffee. That helps to mask any inconsistencies from leaving the pot on the burner too long or what have you. On the occasions when I've tried it without the sugar I have found that the taste varies a fair bit. EDIT - I ought to mention that each store is responsible for calibrating all it's own equipment too, which can alter the taste from one store to the next. There are guidelines that they are all supposed to follow, but that doesn't mean everyone does, or pays that much attention to what they're doing. Find yourself a good store with good staff and stick to it, I say.
