I somewhat wonder if it wouldn't have been better for the boy to testify. Not that I would want him to have to relive that time in his life but I can't help but wonder if it wouldn't be crucial to his emotional healing to confront the offender and see that she got seriously punished. For an 8 yr old I cannot imagine the damage she's done. Not that it's easier on any other age, but 8 yrs old is a VERY formative age where it will take a lot for him to unlearn what she has 'taught' him. I am glad that his parents don't seem vindictive because that would make matters worse for him.
