The fact that we are discussing a single performer's blunders, which just so happend to occur in a football game halftime show. If they had happened on any other gig, I'm pretty sure we'd end up talking about her poor musicianship anyways. Probably because we are discussing the performer who was in the show, not the whole show itself.

i had taken this thread as confirmation of the (accidental) wisdom of not watching most sports on television, and not watching the orange bowl in particular.

This thread is about Ashlee Simpson fucking up... again.

if you were serious about playing, why would you take a halftime gig?

... I think national television is a pretty good thing for a career.

what would you get for having taken it?

Good (or bad) exposure to a mass public. That could boost (or lower) sales of your media. It's pretty simple actually.

Gaining a larger fanbase, exposing your music/message/art. Yes alot of it leads back to money, but its unavoidable, money makes the world go 'round.
Trust me. I know how football games go. Have you ever entertained a football crowd? If you have, you should know it totally sucks in one aspect and is good in another. I did marching band for a major university football program. The crowds are terrible, they're bastards and you have to sacrifice much of your musical integrity just to please them. On the other end of the spectrum, theres nothing like getting accepted by a humongous crowd. That aspect has never happend for me at a football game, but rather on a competetive circut. Sure, it's just a football game. That doesn't mean musicians should bend over and get fucked in the ass by football fans. I think I lost my message in this last paragraph but I dont really care. It's 5 AM and I need to go to bed.
