This morning it was confirmed that the post made concerning Half-Life 2 going gold, orginally thought to be made by Valve's Gabe Newell, was in fact posted by someone that had found his password and used it to post with his account.
A Valve employee confirmed it in this thread on the SteamPowered forums.
