best gun related song...

well, whats your favorite gun related song?

clavus 11-09-2005 02:57 PM

I need to go with Spot 1019 "Free Men Bear Arms." A fun, rocking song about guns that doesn't get too serious.

flstf 11-09-2005 03:13 PM

The first song that came to my mind.

"I shot a man in Reno, just to watch him die"
Johnny Cash - Folsom Prison Blues - 1956

Also.

Johnny Cash - Don't Take Your Guns to Town - 1958

Or on the trigger of your gun!

Quote:

If everybody had a 12 gauge
With a sufboard too.
You see em shootin and surfin'
From here to Malibu.

Because he's totally bitchin'
Ridin waves and blastin' pigeons.
And its a' neat shootin' skeet when youre ridin' on the heavies all day.

Aerosmith - Janie's got a gun

Quote:

Janie's Got A Gun
Janie's Got A Gun
Her dog day's just begun
Now everybody is on the run
What did her daddy do
It's Janie's last I.O.U.

She had to take him down easy
And put a bullet in his brain
She said 'cause nobody believes me
The man was such a sleeze
He ain't never gonna be the same

Run away, run away from the pain
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Run away, run away from the pain
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Run away, run away, run, run away

ziadel 11-20-2005 11:11 PM

I can't believe no one mentioned this one...

Quote:

The old gunfighter on the porch
stared into the sun
and relived the days of living by the gun
when deadly games of pride were played
and living was mistakes not made

and the thought of the smell of the black powder smoke
and the stand in the street at the turn of a joke
Ah, the smell of the black powder smoke
and the stand in the street at the turn of a joke

It's always keep your back to the sun
and he can almost feel the weight of the gun
it's faster than snakes or the blink of an eye
and it's a time for all slow men to die
and his eyes get squinty and his fingers twitch
and he empties his gun into the son of a bitch

and he's hit by the smell of the black powder smoke
and the stand in the street at the turn of a joke
hit by the smell of the black powder smoke
and the stand in the street at the turn of a joke

Now the burn of a bullet is only a scar
he's back in his chair in front of the bar
and the streets are empty and the blood's all dried
and the dead are dust and the whiskey's inside
so buy him a drink and lend him an ear
he's nobody's fool and the only one here

who remembers the smell of the black powder smoke
and the stand in the street at the turn of a joke
remember the smell of the black powder smoke
and the stand in the street at the turn of a joke

He said I stood in that street before it was paved
learned shoot or be shot before I could shave
and I did it all for the money and fame
noble was nothing but feeling no shame
and nothing was sacred but stayin' alive
and all that I learned from a Colt 45

was to curse the smell of the black powder smoke
and the stand in the street at the turn of a joke
curse the smell of the black powder smoke
and the stand in the street at the turn of a joke

Now he's just an old man that no one believes
says he's a gunfighter, the last of the breed
and there are ghosts in the street seeking revenge
calling him out to the lunatic fringe
now he's out in the traffic checking the sun
and he's killed by a car as he goes for his gun

So much for the smell of the black powder smoke
and the stand in the street at the turn of a joke
so much for the smell of the black powder smoke
and the stand in the street at the turn of a joke

Sho Nuff 11-22-2005 09:22 AM

Hey Joe definitely tops the last.

Not mentioned: Nas - Gave you power

I seen some cold nights and bloody days
They grab and me bullets spray
They use me wrong so I sing this song 'til this day
My body is cold steel for real
I was made to kill, that's why they keep me concealed
Under car seats they sneak me in clubs
Been in the hands of mad thugs
They feed me when they load me with mad slugs
Seventeen precisely, one in my head
They call me Desert Eagle, semi-auto with lead
I'm seven inches four pounds, been through so many towns
Ohio to Little Rock to Canarsie, livin harshly
Beat up and battered, they pull me out
I watch as niggaz scattered, makin me kill
But what I feel it never mattered
When I'm empty I'm quiet, findin myself fiendin to be fired
A broken safety, niggaz place me in shelves
under beds, so I beg for my next owner to be a thoroughbred
Keep me full up with hollow heads

[Chorus: Nas (repeat 2X)]

How you like me now? I go blaow
It's that shit that moves crowds makin every ghetto foul
I might have took your first child
Scarred your life, crippled your style
I gave you power
I made you buck wild

[Nas]
Always I'm in some shit, my abdomen is the clip
The barrel is my dick, uncircumcised
Pull my skin back and cock me, I bust off when they unlock me
Results of what happens to niggaz shock me
I see niggaz bleedin runnin from me in fear, stunningly tears
fall down the eyes of these so-called tough guys, for years
I've been used in robberies, givin niggaz heart to follow me
Placin peoples in graves, funerals made cause I was sprayed
I was laid in a shelf, with a grenade
Met a wrecked-up tech with numbers on his chest that say
Five-two-oh-nine-three-eight-five and zero
Had a serial defaced, hopin one day, police would place
where he came from, a name or some sort of person to claim him
Tired of murderin, made him wanna be a plain gun
But yo I had some other plans, like the next time the beef is on
I make myself jam right in my owner's hand

[Chorus]

[Nas]
Yo, weeks went by and I'm surprised
Still stuck in the shelf with all the things that an outlaw hides
Besides me it's bullets, two vests and then a nine
There's a grenade in a box, and that tech that kept cryin
Cause he ain't been cleaned in a year, he's rusty as clear
He's bout to fall to pieces, cause of his murder career
Yo, I can hear somebody comin in, open the shelf
His eyes bubblin, he said, "It was on"
I felt his palm troubled him shakin
Somebody stomped him out, his dome was achin
He placed me on his waist, the moment I've been waitin
My creation was for blacks to kill blacks
It's gats like me that accidentally, go off, makin niggaz memories
But this time, it's done intentionally
He walked me outside, saw this cat
Cocked me back, said, "Remember me?"
He pulled the trigger but I held on, it felt wrong
Knowing niggaz is waiting in hell for 'im
He squeezed harder, I didn't budge, sick of the blood
Sick of the thugs, sick of wrath of the, next man's grudge
What the other kid did was pull out, no doubt
A newer me in better shape, before he lit out, he lead the chase
My owner fell to the floor, his wig split so fast
I didn't know he was hit, it's over with
Heard mad niggaz screamin, niggaz runnin, cops is comin
Now I'm happy, until I felt somebody else grab me
Damn!

Filter - Hey man nice shot

Quote:

I wish I would’ve met you
Now it’s a little late
What you could’ve taught me
I could’ve saved some face
They think that your early ending
Was all wrong
For the most part they’re right
But look how they all got strong
That’s why I say hey man nice shot
What a good shot man
A man
Has gun
Hey man
Have fun
Nice shot
Now that the smokes gone
And the air is all clear
Those who were right there
Got a new kind of fear
You’d fight and you were right
But they were just to strong
They’d stick it in your face
And let you smell what they consider wrong
That’s why I say hey man nice, nice shot
What a good shot man
A man
Has gun
Hey man
Have fun
Nice shot
I wish I would’ve met you
I wish I would’ve met you
I’d say
Nice shot

Johnny Cash- Cocainne Blues
"Late one night
I was making the rounds
I took my .44 and I shot my woman down.
I took a shot of cocainne,
and went to bed,
and laid that lovin' .44 beneath my head"

Everyone thinks this is a Hendrix song. It's a cover of the Byrds original...

Since people are counting group names with "Gun" in them...

Drunk with Guns "Jesus Christ Superstar"

-another cover

Maybe they just like the Hendrix cover more. :D

I don't know how much it has to do with guns, but it's got bullet!

U2 - Bullet The Blue Sky

If we're going to get that vague with the criteria, I nominate George Jones' "Hotter Than a Two-Dollar Pistol."

Offspring - Bad Habit

Quote:

Hey man you know I'm really okay
The gun in my hand will tell you the same
But when I'm in my car
Don't give me no crap
Cause the slightest thing and I just might snap

When I go driving I stay in my lane
But getting cut off makes me insane
I open the glove box
Reach inside
I gonna wreck this fucker's ride

I guess I got a bad habit
Of blowin' away
Yeah I got a bad habit
And it ain't goin' away
Yeah

Well they say the road's a dangerous place
If you flip me off I’ll get in your face
You drive on my ass
Your foot's on the gas
And your next breath is your last

I guess I got a bad habit
Of blowin' away
Yeah I got a bad habit
And it ain't goin' away
Yeah

Drivers are rude
Such attitudes
But when I show my piece
Complaints cease
Something's odd
I feel like I'm God
You stupid dumbshit goddam MOTHERFUCKER!

I open the glove box
Reach inside
I'm gonna wreck this fucker's ride

I guess I got a bad habit
Of blowin' away
Yeah I got a bad habit
And it ain't goin' away
Yeah

hank jr, Justice Will Be Done.

I went down to the Mary Carter Paint store
I said give me one of them Smith & Wesson magnum 44’s
Cause there’s a man that the law let loose
And justice was not done
This man killed my wife and my only little son

I’ll never forget the way he looked all thru the trial
He had his big named lawyer
And he had that smirkey smile
Whoa yeah he got you off on a technicality
But you have to grow wings and fly
To ever get away from me

Cause I got rights
I got rights too
And this time there won’t be no damn lawyers
And systems to protect you
I’m gonna read you
I’m gonna read you your rights
You got a right to know that you gonna go
To hell one of these black nights

And when the trial was over he had the nerve to say
That’s the way it goes
I said well hoss you better get you some corks
Cause your gonna have to plug up a few holes
Guess he thought I was talking
Just to pass away time
But he kinda looks different now
On his knees begging for his life

He I got rights
I gotsome rights too
And this time there won’t be no damn lawyers
And systems to protect you
But I’m gonna read you
I’m gonna read you your rights
Because I want you to know that you’re gonna go
To hell one of these black nights

Naw and this time there n’aint no damn lawyers
And systems to save you

Tophat665 12-25-2005 08:32 AM

"Skeet Surfin'"! w00T! Awesome song, but I haven't thought about that in years.

"Happiness is a Warm Gun" was the first thing to pop into my head, but "Lawyers, Guns, and Money" is good too (though "Roland the Headless Thompson Gunner" might be better.)

For the Weird selection, I have to go with "16 Shells from a Thirty Ought Six". Tom Waits is such a freak. Wonderful man.

Also, please be aware that is against the law in most states for a white man to sing the blues regardless of how many men he has shot in Reno. :)
