Bow/Crossbow

I'm fairly new to hunting. I'm looking to buy an new bow or crossbow. Can anyone suggest a certain brand to me. Cost and Quality are factors in my decision.

First question is whether crossbows are legal to hunt with in your area. If they are I'll leave that to someone with more knowledge than I.

For a bow, I'm going to need more info. For example do you shoot fingers or use a release, will you use sights or bare bow. Are you a smaller guy or bigger...

Your best bet is to find an archery range/pro shop and ask questions. Guys at pro shops love to talk about archery (make sure you have a while to kill...)

If you want to post more info maybe I can help narrow down the selection, but there are way too many unknowns right now.

I'll be on the veranda, since you're on the cross.

According to the information on the Ohio hunting regulations, you should be able to use a crossbow for most hunting applications. this site might be helpful.

good luck and safe shooting

Supermidget is preaching the gospel on archery pro shops. Those guys can talk! It's worth it though. My wife used to do archery a few years back, and the trip to the only really solid archery shop we had locally was worth the two hours that we spent there. Not only did we save money in the short run by going to a place that had what she wante din stock, the advice given on selection was VERY worth as it prevented us from making a costly mistake and having to buy another bow.

ahh yes... i too am looking to get into archery. i would prefer a compound bow and something with a not-so heavy pullback so i can get my mechanics down first. 5'10 155, what should i get? this also isn't for hunting, just a hobby or recreational activity, i'll be mainly shooting at targets.
