Your pistol of choice

So I've always been a fan of Smith and Wesson .44, I don't know what it is about revolvers that just do it for me but damn... It might be the step back in time firing something that isn't semi-automatic and purely hand loadable. I personally would love to get my hands on a .44 special, or even it's offspring the 44 magnum.

So anyone else out there shares my love of the revolver or if you have something else in mind for your favorite I would love to hear it.

The gun I'd carry all the time if I didn't have lower back trouble is a pre-agreement Smith & Wesson model 629 with a three-inch barrel. I had the barrel ported and crowned by Magnaport and the finish bead-blasted and the hammer and trigger jeweled, the unfluted cylinder engraved, and the stocks replaced with Nill's. It's not quite a barbecue gun, but pretty enough; unfortunately, even with the snubbed barrel, it weighs quite a bit more than my model 60. It's a very straight shooter, albeit loud. Recoil, to my considerable surprise, is slightly more noticeable than in six-inch models with the same porting.

A full size, spanking custom 1911. The fit, function, crisp trigger, custom sights, checkering and custom grips. OMG, just pulling back the slide puts me in ecstasy. I feel the whole pistol function like a pistol should--with precision.

Sigh. Makes me want to buy a high dollar TRP. =P

Wow, that's one beautiful pistol. How is it on accuracy?
(I might consider getting one of those. )

The Colt Python .357 Magnum is, in my opinion, the finest general production revolver ever produced.

I'm going to sell my soul on Gunbroker some day and get one.

All the above are wonderful pistols, but pistols are like females, some like blondes some like brunettes. Personally I love my .40 Glock. Its ugly, and its simple for a high capacity automatic. Kinda like a flat revolver with the same trigger pull every time and no safety to worry about. Throw it in the mud, then fire off a clip underwater (would never try that personally, but it will). It fits well in a shoulder holster or in a jacket pocket. I have a Hogue grip that makes it feel nice in my hand and the .40S&W round is an all around caliber that has great controllability and excellent terminal results. Gorgeous 1911 KirStang, bet that's a pleasure to shoot. I have a baby eagle I love to shoot (.40) but I have never carried it.

G17 in a FIST Inc. kydex IWB holster for me. It's simple, tremendously easy to conceal, finding ammo is never a problem and it works every single time. What more could you ask for?

Hope you're not carrying it with a round in the chamber.

Surely he meant he put it in a Nemesis or similar pocket holster in his jacket pocket...right?

In sheer aesthetics, I have to go with the ever-present Desert Eagle .50:

To me, it just represents the badassery of a huge cannon in one's hand, a one-shot blow the whole world up kinda gun. I doubt I'll ever own one, because it's just like getting a huge ass Hummer H2 to drive down your suburban streets and park in your garage every night. Everyone knows why you have it and it's really not any better at it's job than something smaller and more efficient.

For practicality, everyday use (albeit a bit heavy), commonality and because I own one.. I have to say that the 1911 Commander editions are my favorite.

I can't stand the Desert Eagle, I feel the aesthetics are horrible, the balance is bad, and it is ill-suited for everything except for making movies.

My favorite handgun: The NightHawk Custom Vickers Tactical 1911 as seen in the photograph below. I'm sorry but I don't have a better picture and I don't feel like playing photographer today.

It is a custom built 1911 on a Caspian Frame with integral mag-well and plunger tube, beveled barrel, non-ambidextrous safety, and is just plain sexy, IMHO. I wanted everything to be real-world performance oriented, no flashy stuff or gaming-type modifications.

My S&W 640 is just sexy. Curves in all the right places, finish just feels slick and there's a weight of ... importance to it. It's such a common accessory for me that I feel half naked without it. I would love to shave a few pounds off the pull but I don't have the kind of funds or know-how to start revolver surgery.

I would love to have a S&W .44 magnum. Dirty Harry is my friend.

They jam at a harsh word. I was amazed that Bullet Tooth Tony managed to get through three whole magazines without a malfunction.

I like a smith and wesson 5906 -
It fits my mitts nicely, and I find the 9mm plenty for most social situations..... barring that its my BHP and then my CZ-82 - the 82 is a better pocket option than anything else......

I have huge hands. The Glock 36 and a full-size 1911 are the only two pistols I've tried that feel right in my hand, and I can shoot the best groups with those. The G36 felt most natural in my hand. I haven't tried anything with aftermarket big fat grips on it, so I'd have to try more to be sure.

Not to mention the persistent jamming problems with the .50AE round. My understanding is that the awkward angle between the bullet and feed ramp combines with a less-than-smooth transition from the angle at which it's stacked in the magazine prevents the nose of the round from clearing the bottom of the feed ramp before the slide moves forward to chamber it, jamming the bullet against the feed ramp. Limp wristing exacerbates the problem. It isn't a problem with .357, .40 and .44 configurations because that bit of extra space before the gun chambers the round gives it the time it needs to clear the lip of the feed ramp.
