Id have to go with the classic B.A.R.

Ohio Ordnance is making those in semi-auto trim.... quite spendy, and HEAVY, but goddamn nothing says I mean bussiness like a BAR |
Yeah. The BAR doesn't fall under the AWB since it doesn't have many "evil" features. It costs about $3000 to have one - Imagine spitting 30-06 downrange with that sucker!

I've always wanted to learn to wield a pair of these:

I'd really like to grab one of those up, but all the mags are WWI technology and if you leave those loaded for any length of time the springs will take a set from what I am told. Wolf needs to bang out some replacement mag springs. would be a great california legal weapon tho also, thanks to the CMP 30-06 mil-surp ammo can be had for a pretty reasonable price. |
Meh. BAR was a little too heavy and the mag was a little too small. They could have easily made larger box mags, even with the technology of the time.
Enfield Jungle Carbine. That thing kicked ass. |
Quote:
I wont argue that the mag capacity was a bit on the small side.... But too heavy? I dunno about that, the M14s lack of weight made it unusable in fully automatic mode. How heavy would you have made it? |
I like my straightsword. Elegant yet has a bloodgroove.

I'm having a sword made for me right now from Albion Armourers.
It's the Lindsay family Discerner on which the sword from John Boorman's Excalibur was based. It will take 16 weeks to make but this is how it looks: http://www.albion-swords.com/images/...er/Disc_01.jpg http://www.albion-swords.com/images/...cerner_05a.jpg Hand Polished Silicon Bronze Fittings Twisted German Silver Wire-Wrapped Grip with German Silver Ferrules High Carbon Steel, Hand-Ground and Satin-Finished Blade Sharpened Individually Differentially Heat-Treated Blade It is actually balanced and battle-ready which is why it takes so long to craft by hand. But I always wanted the Excalibur from the movie. |
european blades never really did it for me :(
|
Straightsword.
i agree, something about putting a tassel at the of your blade makes it sexy. if anyone is into TMA, youtube some long tassel straightsword. The object is to keep the tassel inline with the blade. Very hard stuff to learn. It's on my todo list.

a tassel?
you mean like a tai chi sword? |
M14 F/A

Full auto was a stupid idea in the first place on the Garand platform. The E3 model of the M14 was a joke at best. We had the M60 for full auto suppression. Did a decent job, I think. I'm not a fan of the M60: I had to use it in Afghanistan recently and it is not the most well designed automatic weapon of any era. Too many pieces and the barrel change is cumbersome to say the least. I still feel that the 7.62x39 round is superior to the 5.56x45 for modern short range combat. The 7.62x51 is a near perfect GPMG / designated marksman round. All these rounds have a niche in modern warfare. Big bullets do a good job of making big holes. Law of physics. (/rant) |
A fucking shovel.
The other day my wife's pet hermit crabs (don't ask) died and I walked to some woodsy area carrying the animals in a plastic bag and a shovel in the other hand, so I could bury them there. I started looking at the tool and thinking...It's heavy, both ends are metal, but it's easy to wield. Potentially very deadly. I heard that in WW1 and 2 they used to sharpen the edges of shovel so they could chop up anyone who would surprise them while they were digging the trenches...great for melee combat, I think. |
I wouldn't mind having one of these

Tetsubo.
http://crushingforce.com/db2/00181/c...s/tetsubo1.jpg You just can't go wrong with one. As much as I love firearms, I like something with defensive capabilities besides shooting them before they get to me. |
I would love to own a H&H Double Rifle .700, but that will probably never happen. However, I would also like a 1874 Sharps Buffalo Rifle 45-70 (reproduction is fine) or even a PTRD/S.
For general target shooting I would go with a Ruger 10/22, M1 Carbine or SVT-40. |
what are we killing?

Post your favo "weapon"
well ill start by posting my favo weapon the m4 carbine
used in games like counter strike: source  |
M4s are the inbred children of the AR15.
They shit on themselves when they fire. I carried one for four years on three continents. Fuck that thing. ... I want me some M72A6 LAW (rocket launcher). The Norwegians (?) made that thing REALLY badass. |
Pistol: 1911. Gorgeous gun in a great caliber. Perfect feel, and some of the best shooting pistols I've used.
Rifle: AK47. It has power, it has that rugged feel, and I may be in the minority here, but I also find it to be a gorgeous firearm. |
S&W 4506 .45 single stack
Big hunk of steel. Solid gun. |
My will to great ability to annoy the crap out of anyone with either bad jokes, goofy sounds or talking about subjects no one cares about. No wonder I have few friends.

"What are we supposed to use, man, harsh language?" - Pvt. Frost, Aliens
I really like the H&K G36K. I think that would be a mighty fine weapon for the US Army Airborne. Ya know, instead of that joke the XM8 that we were all promised. |

COLT, Model MT6700C, Match Target HBAR Competition Semi-Automatic Rifle, .223 Remington, 20" Heavy barrel
http://www.impactguns.com/store/media/colt_6700c.jpg http://airsoft-bg.com/images/colt-scope.jpg http://www.combatreform2.com/90rounderbyMWG.jpg I use the AR-15 to target practice in the woods on our property. Sometimes I attach a 90 round drum and blast away at stuff for fun. |

I like it. |

H&K MP5K PDW w/ that snazzy quick-deployment shoulder rig.
MP5K PDW rig The perfect "night on the town" accessory for any red-blooded man. |
It sounds wierd, but I am more accurate with a pistol than the MP5K.

http://hkpro.com/image/mp5kengraved.jpg They also offer a briefcase version which can be fired without opening the case from a trigger in the handle. Probably best to keep your finger off the trigger while carrying normally as you could shoot yourself in the calf. http://hkpro.com/image/mp5kbriefcase.jpg http://hkpro.com/mp5kbrieffire.jpg |
My favorite pistol of all-time has got to be the M1911, hands down. There's just something about it.
As for rifles, I've always been partial to something chambered in 7.62mm: http://img179.imageshack.us/img179/7...sentgc3.th.jpg It also doesn't hurt that I can field strip it and reassemble it with my eyes closed and can perform the entire manual of arms with it. I wish I had the money right now to begin amassing an arsenal. Alas, I am but a poor college student. |

Shed those things and come over to the dark side of clickety-click toys. ... The picture you posted is of rats at VMI doing the manual of arms. I'll assume you go there. Really nice school. |
Yes, I do. It's actually more of an issue of storage. I have no where to really keep them, and a brand new M14 runs about a grand. Not in my price range. I'm actually helping my dad restore a gun cabinet, partially so I can store a few rifles I inherited from my grandfather.
EDIT: I take it you have some familiarity with my alma mater? |
Yeah. I have a few friends from VMI. Best human being factory on the planet.
I hope you know you're a damn lucky guy. ... Springfield M1As are extremely expensive but worth it. Optics mounts are insanely expensive and quality magazines will eat a hole in your credit card. |
Quote:
Tell me about it. If I had my way, I'd one of the match rifles with wood stock. Probably just keep the iron sights though. I wish I could get a surplus M14 though, would be great. BTW, nice Misfits tee. |

I dont know why u guys would even mention the M249, most worthless piece of junk ive ever fired... now the 240B.. thats a beauty. combat tested |
Quote:
Despite the fact that the M249 SAW is indeed a "worthless piece of junk" over other light machine gun designs, I believe it has the highest kill rate of any US infantry weapon used during the GWoT. The torture-device twist collapse stock sucks the most, the short barrels are used all the time for no reason, and there aren't enough "nut sacks" to go around for those who need 'em. The M240B (aka "the Pig") is a beautiful gun from a technical standpoint... but not for a grunt to carry. Zero ergonomics and 27 lbs standalone (no barrel or ammo). It's good when it's on a truck or somebody else is carrying the damn thing! Good thing the DoD is looking into the newer lightweight model. |
