Motherboard Fan
 

I have a 865PE Neo2-LS motherboard. Manufacture Link:

If you look at the little grill that says msi on it. There is a small fan under it. well the fan is going bad. Its making alot of noise and i want to replace it.

Does anyone know of a place i can buy a fan to replace that with? If you need i can get u dimensions off the fan. Hopefuly i can replace to fan. I dont want to half to buy a new motherboard. Im tring to sell this computer and its got a nice motherboard in it.

It appears to be the Northbridge fan. I have a Gigabit board and it runs fine without the fan, however, if you choose to remove it be sure to monitor your temps closely. If you want to replace it, I have had good luck with this company:

Normally, the 40mm fans come in two thicknessnes. Just make sure you get the right one; also, determine the number of pins that the current fan uses. If it has a 3 pin connector then it has speed sensing.

Another option is to replace the fan with a heatsink. Sometimes they're a bitch to install depending on the motherboard.

You could try MSI itself. One of their reps once told me they'd replace such fans for free. (He did mention you'd have to pick it up yourself, though...) I don't know if you know how to contact them, though.

Like Lewis said, another option would be a fan-less solution, like one of those Zalman chipset heatsinks. I have a similar chipset on my Asus P4P800 motherboard, which does not use a fan, but only a heatsink. It won't cost much, and will prevent similar problems in the future.
