Quick question about upgrading ram...
 

Ok so here's the deal. I have a dell that's about 2 years old. It runs on a 2.8ghz pentium 4 and I have 512 mb ram. I want a gig of faster stuff, but i don't know what my mobo can handle. How do you test for this kind of thing?

Call Dell, or go to <a href="http://www.crucial.com/store/listProductLine.asp?cat=RAM&mfr=Dell&submit=Go">Crucial.com</a> and follow the recipe. Even if you don't buy from them you'll know what you need.

Thanks a lot cyrnel. That crucial recipe works great. Btw, I'm looking at corsair or rosewill ram, gonna buy it off newegg. Is most stuff on newegg good, or are there some names I should go with/stay away from?

I like Kingston HyperX a lot, but Crucial, Micron, Mushkin, just fine. I have no experience with Rosewill.
