Mini Ipod question
 

I have a few songs on my Ipod that i want to delete. How can i get rid of a few i dont like anymore? Thanks.

if you want rid of the permanently you just delete them from your itunes library.
if you just want them off your ipod then go into your ipod from within itunes and delete the track, so long as you don't have auto-sync on then the track will be gone from your ipod but still on your computer should you ever want it again.

Thanks for the help fatbob. I quess i should of made it more clear. I do want to save the songs on my computer, but want to remove a few off my Ipod.

ok.
so start up itunes. plug the ipod in.
look down the left, in the list of library, playlists, etc. in that list you should see your ipod...called whatever you called it...
click on your ipod. the songs that are listed now to the right are ones that are on your ipod. just find the ones that you want to delete, select them and delete by cntrl-clicking if one a mac and, i'm guessing here, right-clicking on a pc.
it'll ask if you want to remove that track from the playlist or something similar, hit yes and the deed is done.

I bought a ipod yesterday, the new mini 4gb silver model, I find this itunes software very confusing, i must be either too use to MS products or just having a hard time getting use to it. Took me forever to load songs, now after reading this post atleast now i know how to delete them! thanks for info.


and this new ipod is amazing. the sound is fantasitc, i wish they would issue new headphones with it though, stock ones are terrible.

have you found the facility for looking up track names to save you typing them all in...i didn't at first! and it does save loads of time!

I just got an iPod a few days ago and I couldn't be happier but I had to get rid of iTunes. I hate programs that create a library. All I wanted to do is drag and drop to the dang thing and delete just like a regular hard drive. I went out on the net and started looking around for alternatives to iTunes and found a program called Anapod. I bought the iPod version and my problems were solved. It's just like using Window$ Explorer for an iPod. I think there are free programs out there that will let you delete songs that you do not want but I know that iTunes will just put them back on if they are in your library.

Here's the key: don't think of iTunes as a file manager, think of it as a database. It is all about the ID3 tags. The biggest hint I can give you is to change the Genre tags on your songs to an organizational method that makes sense to you (for instance, I separate humorous music from sketch comedy). Spend a little time at Smart Playlists.com to see just how much power is at your fingertips when you grok iTunes.
