Strange problem

I had a yellow circle next to my azureus downloads. So, it turns out there might be something wrong with the listening port. Well, I went to change it from the default, but I didn't know what to change it too. I went to start->run: netstat. It pops up for a second and then disappears. This is not the first time something like this has happened and I think it might be something wrong with my msdos. It happens on every computer I have and I just built this one...I am such a newb when it comes to networking

It's been a while since I used Azureus (which is one of the best torrent software available, except for being a bit heavy on the resources), but as far as I remember yellow circles used to appear on my client as well, they would turn green after a while though.

Here's some stuff about the "health" of the file transfer. Since you mentioned that you are on a LAN, then you have a router. Did you forward your ports??

A fix for your window closing:

when you go to run and type in the command, it runs the command and closes the window. This is what's supposed to happen. If you want the window to stay, then go to Start/Run and type in cmd, then after the cmd window opens type netstat.

As for port forwarding, you need to configure it on the router. Each router has different setups, so you'll have to tell us what router you have.

Just in case you can't figure it out on your own, here's how you port forward. Might not be a step by step guide for you, since I don't know the model of your router, but you should get the idea. You could probably skip steps 1 and 2.

If you want to run files that output to the commandline, don't go run->file. go run->cmd->file. This opens a prompt that won't close on your suddenly. So, run->cmd->netstat.
