I know what a proxy is but it's hard to explain...
a proxy is something you go through on your way to the internet. It makes you have an alternate IP. Here is a list of proxies: http://www.proxy4free.com/index.html To use a proxy (In Internet Explorer 6): Go to Tools -> Internet Options Go to the Connections tab Click on the LAN Settings button In the Proxy Server box, check "Use a proxy server for your lan" Type in the address and port of a proxy you got from that list of proxies Hit OK a few times, and you should be smooth sailing.

yeah, our school did that.
and it blocks all proxy sites, so it prolly wont work. u can download single player games and it works on novell (which we use) and they also block most of the ports, ftp, kazaa everything. and the school itself has a proxy, so it's filtering 10x.

Different schools have different security levels, so I'm thinking this MAY work for him. I'm not sure though.

Either way, there are still solutions. I would do what was mentioned above -- set up your desktop computer at home as a proxy and put it on an unorthodox port number. Then proxy from your laptop through your desktop. That should work.

The program they are using is called altris vision http://www.smartstuff.com/downloads/vision/Vis.pdf anyone know how I can deactivate it? can't access dos command. Operation System is Windows 2000 |

what computer are you on that you can't get to crap on? I thought it was your own personal laptop...
if it's one of theirs, you may have to do other things since you may have monitoring programs on there also, there's a backdoor to get to internet options. go to Help -> Contents and Index Click the "Options" button then hit "Internet Options"

ours use novell and i can pretty much access all i want on all pc's i'm a computer tech.
for novell, we set the proxy's for the school's proxy server, that's the only way out of the school. so, if you change that proxy, you wont get out.

Oh...sorry if there was any confusion about where the computers are located. They are located in the computer lab at our library at the high school. They are Dells that are networked on to one server that is moderated by one of the faculty members. The entire network will not be able to access any type of E-mail or play games(i.e. from www.addictinggames.com) during anytime of the day. I think that their will be an administrator password that I might be able to bypass, given the right tools. But other than that, I'm not sure. Again I apologive for any miscommunications on my part. thasnks for all the help.

tell me if the proxy idea works...
also Knoppix is a good idea if you're not constantly supervised, however: a)if you are supervised/people you don't like are in the room you will be asked questions b)while knoppix is running the guy won't be able to monitor your comp, so he might get worried that it broke and come down to fool with it

Novell has a program in it that is a carnivore style program, they can seize control of any computer that is running any program that the don’t want run, further they can view exactly what you are viewing, it sucks my school just implemented it, 30 people suspended for using AIM (we signed an agreement that we would not use the computers for any other purpose but school...)
if your school is truly Sirius don’t mess with them they know what they are doing, just wait till you get home.

I think this will help.
http://unfeomateo.com/cgiproxy/nph-proxy.pl Just type in the address that you want to go to that would be blocked, and your off! It worked against my school's websence back when I was in high school. I don't think its changed much in a week. ![]()

or try this, just popped into my head.
go to the addicting games, click on the link you want, and copy the link to a text file. also copy the flash file link (should end w/ .swf) and paste it to the text file. either upload the text file to the net or carry it on a floppy and try to access those links
