Anybody seen these!?! Freaking cool!
Saw the link on Fark or Slashdot or something...
AFAIK, these are out of development and actually shipping now. For those hesitant to click the link, think "iPod-sized, but a fully functional 1Ghz Windows PC" http://www.oqo.com/hardware/basics/ |
Won't the keys be a little small?
|
I might want one of those...if I were a squirrel
|
ha! for 2000 bucks!? Still, cool idea..
|
2000 bucks is a steal for something like this! I mean a decent laptop will set you back at least $1500, and so for an extra $500 you basically get the same functionality shrunk down pocket-sized! If I had $2k I would buy one right now. As for the keys being small, I don't think that's really a detriment. I mean if you're planning on doing serious word processing or something, you can just plug a USB keyboard and mouse into the thing. The keypad rocks for if you want to send a quick e-mail while on the go. Just walk into an internet coffee shop or something, jack in via the integrated 802.11b card, send/receive your e-mails, then move on. No clunky laptops to pull out, and way more functionality than PDAs. I think it's a win all around!
/Will Linux run on it? ;-) |

Well I feel like an impulsive purchase is coming on. I've still got my old tosh Libretto and I still love it. great for those small jobs but this thing would be just the business. And Linux too ...
has anyone out there actually got one of these ? |
that looks really cool. now i want one.
|
my oh my, that looks sweet.
it claims to have a battery life of three hours, which I guess is reasonable, as long as you remember to turn the sucker off when you aren't using it. hmmm.... christmas isn't that far away..... |
wow 2 grand for those babies damn....
|
Hmmm, $2k for something I could lose that easy, no thanks. Cool, but not that cool...
|
Can I watercool it? Thx.
;) |
One problem i have with it already and i have not seen it in person is the transreflective display. The same type of display on the gameboy color/version one game boy advanced, Meaning if there is no light to reflect on the screen you will not be able to see anything. But i would like to see one in person befor i can make up decesion on the operation of it.

very cool baby miles davis

Cool...
[IMG]I think they pretty cool...
|
it would be cool if computers could be expandable / collapsable from reg. size to that size so you get functionality and mobility
|
Hmm, replace my laptop and eliminates the need for a PDA. $2,000 is not out of line when you think of it in those terms.

That looks so cool but I think I would only buy this to add to my gadget collection. I think I could find something better to buy for $2000

Errr... it seems kind of pointless... Why not just have a good PDA or a light-wright, thin laptop.
|
Yes, it will run linux...I have seen one. I'm part of a Linux Users Group in my town and some guy brought on of these to the meetings b/c he was having trouble getting his networking configured on it. We got it though ;) They are AWESOME!!

WoW... I want one.
|
Hmm, great design but no wireless. Maybe 2000 bucks if it had wireless. And this isn't even in the same realm as PDA's, being able to run a real operating system in something so small would be amazing.
