Widescreen tv

I'm looking to buy a widescreen tv for my room. I'm thinking like a 30" will do. What's the best brand and/or make of tv i should buy for the money?

Hello Guit84,
I have a widescreen TV that i've been using for 5 months. It's a PHILIPS one that is around 32" wide. the picture quality is absolutely great, and it has compactibility for progressive scan. It also has a built in surround system, and it's a great TV to watch movies with. For the money you should take a good look at the Plasma sets offered by Philips, which is the industry leader in quality. Lcd is also good, but much more expensive for only a small increase in quality.

How much did that cost you?

I'm looking more for a flat screened tube tv. Not a flat panel one. Does anyone know of any good widescreen tubes.

Why is it that everyone has connections except for me? I'd gladly buy a widescreen tv if I didn't have to pay full retail price

What have you done for your local retailer to deserve paying less than retail?

I did a ton of TV research a few months back for a 32inch 4:3 TV (not widescreen). What I've found is this: Sony is (more or less) always going to have the best picture quality but you're paying at least $200+ more than a TV of the same size with similar features. What I've seen happen is other respectable companies like Zenith and Phillips (or is it Panasonic...?) will come and go with the "bang for your buck" TV's. One will release new technology and will temporarily have better picture quality and then the other will release a new line and the demand will shift. If you want to get into all of this (price is the only reason to, unless you're a bargain-hunter by nature), I'd shift you to find a TV/Video forum where people know the newest of new numbers and know everything that's available as of yesterday. If you've got some extra cash, go buy a nice Sony HD tv and be on with your day. I personally did all the research and wound up buying a Sony last minute over a competing Zenith.

Best of luck, hopefully I've been of some help.
